Sunday's games did a real number on my projected brackets. Given that we're in the calm before the storm right now, allow me to update: SYRACUSE REGIONAL 1st/2nd round games at Charlotte #1 North Carolina (ACC) vs. #16 Play-in winner - Oakland (Mid-Continent) vs. Alabama A&M (SWAC) #8 LSU vs. #9...

Both A&M and Iowa State are on the bubble, but the point is that, by definition, some teams on the bubble will get in. The NCAA tournament selection guidelines say that the committee should pick the top 34 at-large teams regardless of conference affiliation. For my money, both A&M and Iowa S...

Re: ND or IU?

http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_Men.html I think ND better just forget about packing any bags this time either. NIT home game awaits. If anything Indiana gets in over ND. I thought the RPI was overrated? If I had to choose one over the other, I go with Notre Dame. They beat Indiana head-to-head an...

One Week till Selection Sunday -- Here's How I See

the brackets shaping up. Note: I've projected automatic bids to current conference leaders/highest seeded teams still alive in their conference tourney. Teams that have clinched automatic bids already are in bold. Also caveat that there's still a lot of basketball left to be played, and these bracke...

Actually, it's the Republican Party which moves continually farther away from the center. The Republicans are still a lot closer to the center, than the Democrats. Not even close. The Democratic Platform in each of the last four Presidential elections has been remarkably centrist. Not the last elec...

Some more thoughts: Next year will be interesting for the Big East, in that there will likely be anywhere from 7 to 10 teams in next year's Big East coming off a tournament bid. Syracuse, Louisville, UConn, Cincinnati, Villanova and Pitt are all but mortal locks to make the tournament. Notre Dame, G...

Found This on the Web

Purportedly, notes from the 2003 meeting of Big East football schools. Not sure if it's legitimate; it's rather obviously amateurishly written in light of the concerns over litigation. Still, it's possible that it was typed up from somebody's hand-scribbled notes. Interesting reading, in any event. ...

Right now, A&M is tied for 29th on the Dance Wishlist.

Imho, that's a more realistic assessment than RPI this year. Vermont is in what, top 15 RPI? If A&M can maintain that ranking, imho they're in. That could be a big if, though.

Btw, I'm calling serious bullshit on this poll as representative of the true party affiliations on this board. 42% Republican??? Either a lot of Republicans haven't voted, or a lot of people are not being honest with themselves about their political affiliation. ¨ No, it means not everyone w...

I did vote for the incumbent Republican Congressman in '02 and lived to regret that. Btw, I'm calling serious bullshit on this poll as representative of the ...

A registered Republican (moderate on many issues) who regularly crosses party lines in the ballot box for many county and states offices....but I guess I'm one of the "goat fuckers". But, for the record, I much prefer sheep over goats. Mace Democrat 27% [ 8 ] Libertarian 0% [ 0 ] Republic...

You're right. The tournament selection committee being the ACC whores that they are, they're probably a #1. :D

[align=justify]A couple of thoughts to follow up what's been posted already. Couldn't agree more on Aerosmith. Their early stuff was nails, and I, for one, was actually geeked up about their comeback effort in the late 1980's, expecting it to be more of the same. How wrong I was. Aerosmith is one ba...

When I was about 4 years old, we had a neighbor down the street named Mrs. Heinrich. She was about 150 back then, and she's no doubt dead by now. Anyway, some of the older kids told me she was a witch, and I believed them -- literally. One day, a bunch of us were playing on a neighbor's swing. It wa...

Actually, with the exception of MLB, pro sports have only a limited exemption from federal antitrust laws.

Where does that exemption end? Therein lies the crux of this matter.

When I was 2, I tried to ride my tricycle down the stairs. I had this thing about speed, had already figured out that I picked up speed by going downhill, and thought the stairs would do the same thing. Anyway, I made it down about 2 or 3 of them, whereupon I fell off my tricycle and broke my collar...
