But there is also that nagging thing(s) we don't do well... and probably never have.

We see other people doing this thing, and it looks like it's no problem.
But we just can't get it.

Maybe singing, maybe math, maybe throwing a baseball...

Go to my right in basketball. As a lefty, i had great control going to my left. Once a defender realized my weakness, they could shut me down defensively. Had to score early and often if I was to score at all. Great players in sports like hoops, LAX, and hockey don't have that problem.

Cooking rice.

I used to have that problem, which is a big problem in south Louisiana. But now it is no problem because I cook it just like pasta for about 10 minutes and then drain it, with a little salt and oil in the water.

Might as well give it a shot. Can't be any worse than my usual hit and miss method.

I can make Japanese sticky rice and risotto fine. Plain white rice always seems to fuck me up.

I just use twice as much water as rice (usually 2 cups water/1 cup rice), bring water to a boil with a little salt & butter, stir in rice, reduce heat to low, cover, simmer for ~20 minutes, remove from heat, let it sit for a couple minutes, stir & serve. Comes out perfect every time.

what SC said. 2/1, a little salt. As soon as it reaches a boils, drop heat to very low, cook covered for 14 minutes.

Works every time. Or you can cheat and use the rice cooker like the OL does. They use less water, closer to 1/1. They do work very well.

Of course, if you have no taste buds or mouth feel at all, you can use minute rice.

As for wolfie's affliction, yeah, going to the left ain't happening. Going to the right, I was half decent at as a kid, but, never could master dribbling without staring at the ball. I pretty much suck at bball.

Another one is doing multiple things at once. Brain is just not wired that way. Found that out as a kid i my first job at Friendlys Ice Cream. Tried to run the grill at lunch time. Boy was that ugly. Being a good short order cook is an art form.

going to school ina town of population 600 we didnt play again "great" athletes. 8 man football type talent..
