Moved to LA after a nasty split and found myself with more time on my hands. In 2000 I found SCII through an acquaintance.

The rest is history. :x

Pretty much from day one. Got into a dispute about the '97 Ryder Cup, when I couldn't give a shit about golf. Halcyon days, when you would think to yourself; "I am telling someone on another continent who I don't even know that he is a cunt and he sucks off his Dad. I am a pioneer."

Been around since SC2, never posted, never registered, just read all that funny shit that people came up and laughed until tears flowed. Even in its' emaciated state, volume-wise, this place still tops most other boards I frequent.

Jimrome.com for me as well. 1999 I think. With apologies to the stuck-nutters, T1B is still the linear champ. Smackchat to Hostboard to T1B. Am I missing a stop?

Several splinter steps, actually. The most notable are TNW, KCClones.com, TSB, Scobode, and TheTrolls.com. I suppose you could also throw The Vent in with this group as well.

Stucknut is an offshoot of LivewithMom.com, no? The more I think about it, the more I realize you need a scorecard to keep up with that.

I started listening to Rome around 2000 as he was on the sports radio station here and I almost always had that tuned in. I found SC sometime after that and started reading it at work during lunch. I laughed like crazy reading that old shit. After reading for 8 or 9 months, I finally registered (7/9/01 according to the email I just found).

First listened to Rome here in southern California around 1994? I think I got my first 'puter in '96. Became aware of SC but didn't join until '97 I think. InkyDave was a freakin' mod if I remember correctly. May have been some other board for all I can recall. Followed the herd from board to board. Mostly bored.

BTW listening to Rome's year end in review last week was excruciating. Put the Bitter Elf down.

Spray, I think Scott Ferral (sp?) was a clone who got his break in radio by calling in to the Jungle with the likes of JT the Brick. Again I could be way off base here.

I don't think that Scott Ferrall had anything to do with Rome. I was listening him along with Papa Joe, and the Sportsbabe before Rome came to the Syracuse airwaves. Rome didn't last long there when he was bad-mouthing Jim Boeheim's divorce, etc. but I caught him on an Auburn NY station. Around late 1996 I hopped on board the original SmackChat (Jim Benton board) and have since followed various and sundry offspring of SC#1.
I was at the last big "Clonestock/Elbastock" in 1998 and shared a few beers with such notables as Jon the Chowd and 18-Wheeler Sam out in SoCal.

It ain't about being a pussy, you shit troll. It's about the fact that some here waste time on our workplace PCs, through workplace connections. And nosey geeks here may or may not be looking at what I'm looking at. I guess you don't have this problem since the assistant jizzmopper position prolly doesn't even have access at work, and if you did, they wouldn't care.

I've never listened to Rome, but a coworker did back when I lived in Dallas. In Fall of 1999, he showed me the website thejungle.com. I thought it was funny because of the Horse Face and Rat Face pages. I browsed the site from my office and stumbled upon the message board. I lurked for a week or so, and was intrigued by the knowledge in the CFB forum. Also enjoyed the smack.

So I registered. First thing I did was pick a fight with PSUFAN (called him PSUFAG and said something about a "rant" he was on), Harvdog and Austin_Bill (just because they were t-sips). The rest is history.

1998 or 1999, can't remember.

I wonder what these three are up to: Dr. Detroit, Elgrandpeehole and ValVenis?

After some 11 years it is remarkable that JimRome.com spawned various boards and this one surviving with its core members of that board.

Yeah, I remember hearing about Val's "death." As for peehole, what I heard was that someone found his JV baseball pic on the interwebs and posted it on one of these boards. Apparently, he skedaddled after that.

...I was listening to XTRA sports back in 93, I think it was about the time Rome was doing updates for the station. Some time after that Rome landed the nightspot on XTRA. It was an exciting time at XTRA as the Chargers were on their Super Bowl run. Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton Image was the Chargers announcer and the stations prime time sports whack. “Saw” took heavy abuse from the other guys at the station because of his ego and of course his rug. Rome and Saw had a running feud with Rome calling Hacksaw “Whacksaw” and Saw tabbing Rome “Junior. Some years later as Rome gained popularity I ended up at Rome’s site.

Soon after, I joined SC and went through the various progressions of those boards. Joined Mild’s board when the SC’s ran their course, and then finally to T1B.

I’d have to say the most memorable time was the Roadie back in 03. I met up with Luther, Jay in Phoenix, Too’s, mcatboy, and Paintboy in San Francisco. We had a great weekend attending the Cubs vs. Giants on Saturday and then over to Oakland on Sunday for the Chargers vs. Raiders (I think most of you remember that story). Sharing a hotel room, cigars, and stories with Luther (they put the two old farts together) was a freaking blast. The no-shows (RaiderLoco, Suckramento Rick, b.t.) missed one helluva weekend.
Todd (Mcatboy) had his wheels and drove us all over; dude wouldn’t let anyone near a tab, paid for everything. One gracious host was mcat.
Luther planned several side trips for us, including a trip out to Alcatraz to see where DiT’s old man lived. Too’s went to RaiderMecca and actually made it back (must have been all that black and silver he was sporting.) Paintboy was one loose cannon…dude got wasted in Frisco and was last seen leapfrogging parking meters.
I’ve always said another Roadie should be planned.
In addition to the above, I’ve also met KC Scott, Joe in PB, and Rocky Mountain Way personally.
Without exception….(uh Paintboy notwithstanding) everyone I’ve met from the various boards have been nails. Good friends and good people I would not have know but for the boards.

And there they are, the Alcatraz shots. And a motley crew if ever there was.
Nice flashback CM. Reminds me of a Cheech y Chong riff:

"They put me in the lineup
And let the bright lights shine
There was three poor dudes like me
Standing in that line

I knew I was the victim
Of somebody's evil plan
When this scroungy looking dude
Came up and said, yeah
That's him, man

Hey, wait a minute, man
I been framed, man
Aw, listen to me, judge
I was framed

I never do nothing wrong
But every time I get the blame
Hey, I been framed"
