Undefeated conference record in either 93 or 94, I forget which year, wasn't too shabby.Mook wrote: Back among the elite programs??
Four straight Big 8 championships 1980-1983 didn't suck much either.
Yes, that's ancient history. But the fact remains that at one time Mizzou was a pretty damn good program. It shall be again.

Pretty damn good does not equal elite. Okie State was pretty damn good at one point too. Missouri has never been "elite".

I should have made that clear from the outset.

I was a bit curious about this statement, so I did some research and came across this. A little breakdown, shall we?T REX wrote:I got piled on for basically calling UF an "elite".

2006: Won national championship. (Championship)
2005: Lost to Villanova in second round.
2004: Lost to Manhattan in first round.
2003: Lost to Michigan State in second round.
2002: Lost to Creighton in first round.
2001: Lost to Temple in second round.
2000: Lost to Michigan State in championship. (Runner-up)
1999: Lost to Gonzaga in regional semifinals. (Sweet 16)
1998: Missed tournament.
1997: Missed tournament.
1996: Missed tournament.
1995: Lost to Iowa State in first round.
1994: Lost to Duke in national semifinals. (Final 4)
1993: Missed tournament.
1992: Missed tournament.
That's going back 15 years. Looks to me like you have 1 championship, 1 runner-up, 3 Final Four's and 4 Sweet 16's.
Another thing I learned while doing this: only 7 schools have more NCAA tourney appearances all-time than ND. I won't be so bold as to claim elite status for ND's program, but I'm pretty sure most of us would agree that most if not all of the schools ahead of ND belong in that category.
Kentucky
UCLA
North Carolina
Kansas
Indiana
Louisville
Syracuse
Duke
ND is in a five-way tie for 9th place, along with Arkansas, UConn, St. John's and Villanova.
Edited because I forgot Duke.

Sorry, but once you RIG A FREAKING POSTSEASON TOURNAMENT, you will never again be entitled to refer to yourself, or have anyone else refer to you as an "elite program."
Any victories they might log must be questioned, and might involve a conspiracy with their opponent for $$$$.
I mean...they've done it before, right?
I got 99 problems but the 'vid ain't one
i never, ever stated they were elite
but they were one of top teams in big8 for decades. they held the #1 spot many times during the 80's, and were recognized as a very good program, their failure was Norm couldnt win when it counted.
his major failure was being an arrogant asshole, and allowing top talent from Missouri to leave and go elsewhere, because he told the public high coaches in st.louis to go fuck themselves. carrawell, jahidi white, ryan robertson, kids who went to zona, duke, big10, etc all were told not to go to MU, Norm was the reason. All of those kids were from st.louis, and all were fans of MU bball, but Norm put up a huge road block, and fucked himself.
It has always been labeled as a sleeping program, as well as the football program. but rip van winkle hasnt woke up yet, and Quin stopped any progress the program had made with the elite 8 run. He caused it to take 12 steps back. Anderson can get the program back to being a contender for conference, especially if he can get the top players in Missouri to stay next year. there are 3 kids in the state who are or should be 4star players. Suggs has offers from the elite programs, if you keep these kids, steal one away from indiana or texas or even michigan or illinois, you could build something nice here, the $ is there for a coach to stay. If they can give Snyder close to 2mil per(after bonuses and incentives), they will pay to keep a coach who is winning here.
Like i said, I am happy with the progress, doesnt look great, but it really is. Anderson has virtually nothing on his roster. Hannah and lawrence are dece, but not typical players missouri has always had Peeler,Rush,Kleiza,Booker,Etc they have always been able to get a very good player to come, but when Snyder took a shit on the program, it made it a hard sell, Coach Anderson is doing everything to sell this program again, and getting suggs ,the 7 footer and possibly soderbergs kid, they would have quality in the roster. 6 schollys doesnt hurt either, and being able to promise minutes as a frosh, who else is going to beat them out?????

Maybe if someone offered Mizzou a fresh cuttlefish, it might wake up.
Hoooooly shit, I can't stop laughing at Mizzoutard. Dude...it's the worst freaking all-sport school in the history of the B12. Has Mizzou ever won anything?

Actually, if you're counting this season already (albeit a bit prematurely) that would give you 4 Final Four's and 5 Sweet 16's in the last 15 years. Of course, this season isn't over yet, so I wouldn't count it just yet.

They’re already in the Final Four and past the Sweet 16. That won't change their numbers of Final Fours or Sweet 16s, will it? Which is all that you referenced in the post I quoted.Terry in Crapchester wrote:The season isn't over until tonight. Did you read this whole thread? By that standard, it is premature to count this season, since we don't know yet where Florida winds up.

Yes, I read the whole thread. The post I referenced made no mention of championships, just Final fours and Sweet 16s. And you indicated that it was too early to update their total numbers on those. Read what you posted, Terry. You really don’t have to be all that smart to graduate from Notre Dame, do you?

Then you're not very capable of following from one post to the next, are you?Goober McTuber wrote:Yes, I read the whole thread.
T REX posted numbers, which he admitted he got from a Gators website.
I then responded with the numbers from 92-06 (most recent 15 years prior to this season). T REX then responded that he didn't mind being corrected, at which point I mentioned that if one were to include the '06-'07 season, you could include an additional Sweet 16 and Final 4 appearance (which would still render the Sweet 16 appearances one shy of his original claim). My reference to it being premature to count this season was not a reference explicitly to Sweet 16 and Final 4, but to the point that Florida's season was not yet over and you couldn't yet tell exactly how they had done. If I were going to list a team's success over the timeframe of several seasons, I would wait until the season was over before including that season in my analysis. But like I said, that's just me.
But by all means, continue gumming at my ankles, if that's what floats your boat.

Number one, for an attorney you’re not terribly adept at expressing yourself. Often, downright clumsy. This might explain why you’re an attorney who can’t even afford to install a new garage door.
Number two, why is it that whenever your stupidity is pointed out to you, it’s ankle-biting?

But I'll take pity on you and try to help you out. A little less spreadsheet-checking and a little more thought before you post might go a long way. Just sayin'.
Btw, not that it's any of your business, but right now I have bigger fish to fry than a new garage door when it comes to home improvements. You can get in a lot of trouble by biting off more than you can chew.
Again, see above. Funny, but I don't see this type of behavior coming from anyone other than you. By definition, that makes it ankle-biting. Or do you need a list of posters who have accused you of the exact same thing?Number two, why is it that whenever your stupidity is pointed out to you, it’s ankle-biting?

Maybe I was the first one who bothered reading your post. I didn’t have any trouble at all understanding that you don’t write particularly well.
I also don’t need a spreadsheet to recall your garage door issues which, BTW, could probably be resolved for $1,000 or less. I’ve got at least four different credit cards I could put that on if I didn’t have it in the bank.
You call it ankle-biting, I call it constructive criticism. I shudder to imagine what a judge must think when you submit anything you’ve composed to the court.

Don't be a Terry, Goobs.
The comment was centered around the hilarity of you offering up any advice on home "improvement" whatsoever.
BTW -- if'n I'm not mistaken, you don't need a permit to replace a rollup door if A) you don't alter the header/structure, or B) obviously, if the homeowner does it himself, although any structural alterations made by the homeowner must be disclosed upon sale. Round these parts, anyway.
If you wanna make jokes about needing a permit to take a piss on site, you need to direct your comments at the People's Republic of San Francisco. You need permits to replace a fence board there, I believe.

Indy,
I don’t need four, I just wound up with them. I thought about closing a couple of them and talked to my banker last week. He said since they’re no-annual-fee cards keep them, since it helps my credit score to have paid-up open lines of credit out there.
I don’t believe I’ve ever heard of a no limit card. So you could go out and buy a house and just slap down your plastic?
Dins,
First you compare me to Terry. Then you compare my lovely wife to NoCal. You’ve already punched your ticket to hell, so why don’t you just go ahead and compare my dad to Wolfman and my mom to Cinder.
