That's fucked up, but to be honest I'm sure they're not the first to try this.

As the story said, it's really fucked up how they only tell you they need permission to use the mic and not disclose what they're doing with it. But of course, we don't want big government standing up for consumers. That would be socialist.

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.

So, their defense is that they use audio signals and their phone mics as a sort of GPS? Don't phones already put out a GPS fix? Why not just use that?

Ehhh,

Read the long print of legalise before you push the "I accept these terms and conditions." button.

Yes, we are conditioned to accept all that shit, but buyer beware. That is why they put that shit in there. All that article amounts to is some MS flailing his/her arms around saying this is fucked up. What are the complete T&C's that the dumbshits agreed to?

I've come across some app's that say a similar thing about using the mic and camera, and I decline. What is the issue?

Complete bullshit. Consumers shouldn't have to wade through encyclopedias of legalese to hopefully discover the part where they tell you they'll use your mic to spy on you. Sorry that I want it a little more upfront and simpler.

I completely agree, but until government steps up and actually does something tangible for the people than those are the rules of the game at this tim.

I would like to see a regulation that says a company is required to state, in minimal decipherable english, terms and conditions.

That poses a problem. Does every contract have to be dumbed down to your level or do we allow progress to leave you behind?

I am talking about statements directed towards consumers. And they could still go into minutia in the statement, but they should in the opening paragraph, get to the important stuff.
