A Short List of Pretty Good Coaches

Post by Red »

Don Shula
George Halas
Curly Lambeau
Bud Grant
Joe Gibbs
Chuck Knox
Marty Schottenheimer
Mike Shanahan

These are the only guys in NFL history to have 125+ wins in their first 200 career games.

Of course, Shanahan would have gotten there much sooner had he not been stuck in Oakland his first season.

Rack the Rat and rack continuity.

John Madden's record was 103-32-7 in 10 years as a head coach, a better winning percentage than any of those.

Any list that leaves out Lombardi and Landry is using incomplete data.
