Did he auger in, then?

The first chapter of The Right Stuff is an absolute head-splitter.

..he did indeed auger in...

RANGER, Georgia (AP) -- Legendary test pilot Scott Crossfield, the first man to fly at twice the speed of sound, was found dead Thursday in the wreckage of a single-engine plane in the mountains of northern Georgia, his son-in-law said.

[Zyclone]My uncle knew Crossfield well from his time as a consultant to the House Science Committee in the '80s and early '90s. I had the good fortune of meeting him.[/Zyclone] RIP

Dude was 84 years old. Most people that age shouldn't be driving a car. Drive an airplane too slow and it'll stall.

Naw, nobody means to put one down where it's not suppose to. I have about 300 hours in a Centurion and know better then to fly them around T-storms.

Can you say "flyswatter"?

They faked it. The damage to the house is too small given the wingspan.

This is a conspiracy. There was no plane crash, just like on 9-11 and the Pentagon story. These things I know, and I could argue them in a court of law. Not traffic court where I am now, but in real court with real lawyers.

Sincerely,

i just meant he's old. if you're gonna die, and flight is your life,
why not die in the cockpit?

or is that not how pilots work?

Being test pilots is something only people with big, shiny, metal balls have. Sure, there might be a couple of crazies mixed in, but damn, exploding into microbits at 50,000 feet is one thing, but doing it for years is just amazing.

Years ago, our police department had a "test" project involving Smith & Wesson's semi-auto, I think the model 59. Held a buttload of ammo, but it also had a safety lever on the thumb side of it. Just a handful of officers were allowed to carry them. One guy got into some hellacious fight, and had the gun pulled from his holster. Bad guy stuck the gun to his head and pulled the trigger several times to no avail.

Obviously the cop was happy with the safety that day, but the department opted to stay with the revolvers until the Glocks came around. About the only test programs I'd partake in now involve the month long Charmin Toilet Tissue comparisons at Freds.

Was John Denver a test pilot?

Not sure, but his singing voice surely should have been quashed in the beta phase. Perhaps his scream hit a perfect middle C whilst tailspinning groundward...

If he was offing himself, I doubt he'd try to take out a house with him. :meds:
No a nut job is someone who can look at the pic I posted (I can post a non photoshopped one if you like) on the first page and say a plane hit that building because the government said so. Now THAT'S a nut job.
