We used to call him John Have-A-Shot. Years ago at an NBA doubleheader (yes-they played them then) at the Syracuse War Memorial. The Celtics played to first game against the Knicks. My brother and I were sitting on the cheap seats on the stage there. The Celtics came out and sat with us watching the Nats play Wilt Chamberlain and the Philadelphia Warriors before they left. Was cool seeing him and Bill Russell. I did not "bug" them for autographs.
RIP.

Life long Celtic fan, Hondo was my favorite Celt of all time. The man played with unbelievable focus and perpetual motion. He ran himself into greatness...he gassed everyone that tried to defend him, and consequently scored on backdoor cuts, and uncontested layups. And the man was an assist artist..
RIP John.. :( 17 Forever!

Nice recap Wolfman..
Awesome story 88!
