The King is Dead

Post by BSmack »

Just saw that Arnold Palmer died. If you ever enjoyed golf at something other than a country club, you can thank Arnie for making golf a game for regular people.

RIP King.

RIP King.
Second.

I was tromping around in the rough between #4 and #5 on the South Course at Torrey Pines once during the Thursday round of the San Diego Open, probably mid-seventies. I was basically the only spectator around there at the time. Probably most of the rest were up closer to the clubhouse. As I was walking along I heard a ball land maybe 15 or 20 yards away in heavy rough. I walked over to the ball and waved to the players walking up the fairway. Turns out the ball was Arnie's. He came up, said thanks and hit the ball. A major sports highlight for me.

RIP

It hardly surprises me that the person from the state with the most velvet Elvis pictures per capita would pipe up about Elvis.

In more ways than one. Pretty sure Elvis punched out in 77.
