Had fun last night with my special that featured several versions of the tune Love Hurts. Might be boring to some, but I found it interesting with the nuances of music and even a change in a lyric.
Had some technical problems, but they were all my fault. Once again proving it's not a good idea to be on radio (such as it is) while partaking of adult beverages.
Here's my play list with a few comments:

Derek & the Dominos- Let It Rain (live from the Filmore)
Bruce Springsteen-Cover Me
------------Featured "Cover" song tonight is Love Hurts.
Everly Brothers- 1960-- 1st recording ?
Roy Orbison- 1961
----------
Gram Parson/Emilou Harris- 1974 (shortly before Gram's passing)
Nazareth--1975-- most familiar and probably most played on air---with lyric change
---------- prior to the Nazareth version "love was like a STOVE, burns you when it's hot" Nazareth changed stove to FLAME for some unknown reason
Jim Cappaldi- 1975--strangest version in my opinion
Cher- 1975--hated by Roger the Shrubber---heavy version with strings and wall of sound
----------
Joan Jett-1990
Triumph- 1991
Keith Richards/Nora Jones- 2005
---------- someone referred to Keith snorting his father's ashes and I told the tale of scattering my Mom's remains into the trout stream
Styxx- Too Much Tim on My Hands
Neil Young- Opera Star
CommanderCody & his Lost Planet Airmen- Hot Rod Lincoln
Wet Willie- Keep on Smilin'
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers- Jammin' Me
Major Kong- B-52 survival kit (Dr. Strangelove clip)
Asia- Sole Survivor
Dirty Wolfman- Do You Feel Lucky?
---------- signing off
Traveling Wilburys- End of the Line

Be back next Thursday with another edition of Cover Me. This time it's City of New Orleans. Start time around 8:30 PM EST.

Looks like the Fallout Shelter will move to Friday night for the next couple of weeks. The 12/11 show will feature various versions of the tune "City of New Orleans" that I've put together for your listening entertainment. Tunes will begin around 8:30 PM EST and go on till whenever which could be 10:30. See you then. Have a good vacation Smackie and Mama.

If I ever hear City of New Orleans again, I may just kill myself.

Guess I know what will be on the request list next week in T1B radio.

Thanks wolfie. Most of the versions were pretty cool, especially Willie.

As far as I know, Smackie is still on tour somewhere. So, unless I hear otherwise, I'll be manning to T1B radio tunes Friday (tomorrow) night. My special set of cover tunes will be set aside so I can play some that are more in the holiday spirit. So grab a cup of Wassail or whatever beverage of choice and log in for some fun and frivolity. It will commence around 8:30 PM EST.

I don't have a spreadsheet or scorecard with the exact stats, but I estimate that I've been hosting Friday night shows here for >6 years, and have probably taken ~25 of them off while doing somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 shows. I'd say that's a fairly reliable track record.

I've been around the last couple weeks but just took a little time away from the mic & turntables. Apologize for not contributing to chat last night. Logged in from my phone but didn't monitor it. Thanks for filling in the past two Fridays. Sounds like the usual attendees may want you to do it full-time. But I plan on returning for a show on 1/1/16.

I'm sure I speak for the rest of the peanut gallery in saying we are blessed to have the bestest interwebs DJ in the free world. And his fukking off a few weeks at the end of the year is well deserved. He is worth every cent we are paying him, maybe more.

Rack you!!

Now get back to work. Wolfie ain't getting any younger and I don't know if he can stand the strain of keeping T1B radio going all by himself.

After a few weeks in the basement, TuneTown makes its return this evening to welcome in 2016. Tonight's show will look back on the year just completed by paying tribute to some of those in the music industry whose toes were tagged in 2015. There'll also be an installment of Take 5 with mama that shouldn't be missed. Many thanks to Wolfman for a couple pinch hitting appearances. Looking forward to firin' up the turntables once again, and I invite all of you to join me this evening for the return of TuneTown!

The assumption is that Smackie is hunkered down for the weekend. Stocked up on all things that matter.

That means Tune Town will overfloweth tonight, best to get requests in early even if requests chap wolfies ass.

I'm able to come off the bench if need be. Surprised a little that Smackie has not checked in here yet.

When you're up at 5 am all week, an older body tends to tucker out early by Friday night. I made it to about 10:30 before crashing which is a fairly late night for me these days. When younger I could get by with 5 hours of sleep. Not anymore.

Bruce Hornsby- The Way It Is
Credence Clearwater Revival- Midnight Special
Dan Fogelberg- Face the Fire
the Insomniacs- Amelia
Boston- Amanda
Doris Troy- Just One Look
the Six Teens- A Casual Look
----------
Raspberries- The Party's Over
