What were they flying with? A DC-3?

Post by Cross Traffic »

The Boise State football team's travel difficulties last week weren't an isolated incident, and they might happen again.

The Broncos' charter flight to Atlanta on Thursday departed about 3 1/2 hours later than scheduled because of airplane problems.

That meant the Broncos arrived at the team hotel around 4:30 a.m. EDT Friday. They lost to Georgia the next day, 48-13.

Fortunately for the Broncos, they left a day early, so the effects were minimized.

But a similar problem occurred two years ago the night before a game at Fresno State. That also was an Allegiant Air flight, because the company often is the low bidder.

BSU is required by the state to accept the low bid. Allegiant will provide the Broncos' charters for four games this season, including Friday to Eugene, Ore., for Saturday's game at Oregon State.

Coach Dan Hawkins says BSU administrators are working on the problem. He said he let "someone with a cooler head" talk to the company.
Instead of having to accept the low bid, would it be acceptable to have boosters pay for the charters?
