Sleaziest, slimiest coach ever

Post by Dinsdale »

This is a tough call. And probably not a comprehensive list of candidates.

But I might have to go with Briles. Or Pitino. Or Switzer.

Anybody else remember when Joe Pa had it in for Jackie Sherrill?

I'm guessing Jackie Sherrill doesn't give a damn about Joe Paterno.

Slimey might not be the right word, but Woody Hayes ought to at least make the ballot. His mugging an opposing team player was one of the alltime BTPCF moments.

Of that list though, I guess you have to go with Joe Pa if he is guilty of what is claimed. Has anyone in history ever taken a worse fall from grace than Joe?

I'd say Hayes was "douchey." Punching an opposing player, while both wrong and hilarious, isn't quite the same as knowingly covering for sexual predators to keep them around. Briles tried to cover up 50 rapes... let that sink in... fifty.

Yeah, Woody and Bobby Knight are prime examples of douchey.

Having no real bias one way or the other, I'd be interested to hear somebody else's.

Dude had some solid teams in the 80s and early 90s, and naturally Saban is a huge fan.

I've heard from some that James had dirt on him but never knew the extent of it.

Please do tell, Dins.

He coached UDub. That's all I need.

But they were paying players (Billy Jo Hobert, D'Marco Farr, and others).

The Billy Jo Hobert stolen car story is a classic!

I'd forgotten about his ill-gotten car getting stolen.

The Dawgs sure ate their own in a hurry.

So, when your sugar daddy hands you the keys to a new rig you'd never be able to afford in a million years, going to the law is a bad idea?

Who knew?

I guess he should have told daddy, his rig got stolen, how's about another?

Probably not. This still hurts. He was a saint in my eyes. Still don't know exactly what he knew, but he knew enough that he should have done more. He fucked up and tarnished his name and the school forever. :(

Tough choice between Paterno and Briles on this one.
