- 1st performance of Honegger/Claudel's "Jeanne d'Arc Ouch B-cher"
- 65th Kentucky Derby: James Stout aboard Johnstown wins in 2:03.4
- T1B's Wolfman was born

At least according to... the other board.

Thanks. Hope I can keep it going at least another 10 years. Here is proof. I never saw this official copy of my birth certificate until I retired from teaching in 1994 and needed it in order to get my pension. I did not know my Dad was working as a "laborer" for the county and that my folks were living at my Grandmother's place, 231 Cleveland Ave..I knew I was born at St.Mary's.
I share the same birthday date as Bob Seger and Willie Mays, two guys I respect. Now back to the regular schedule of this board.

I've got some questions about that birth certificate. That's not the original papyrus birth certificate issued by the hospital.

It also appears to be a poor reproduction of the short-form bc. I'm convinced wolfie's actually a Kenyan.

Happy Birthday Wolfie. I hope I make it that far. I'll be 59 on Thursday.

RACK you for having the same birthday as the Say Hey Kid, my main childhood sports hero. I always thought it was cool that mine was only two days later.

I do share birthdays with my mom, though.

Happy birthday Big O.

You also share a birthday with George Clooney and Sigmund Freud, among others, including Robin "Hurricane" Carter and Rudolph Valentino.

Interesting grouping.

Funny about the papyrus, but it's a photo copy of the original. Some of you may know what that is. I remember Roger Bannister's sub 4 minute mile as if it were only 50 years ago.

Haven't heard from Luther in a while. He probably stops by once in a while to reassure himself that he's not missing anything important. Never thought my birthday would end up as a topic here. I'm lucky in more than one way to still be above ground.
Re: my heritage. Actually Ochsner is German-Swiss from Schaffhaussen Switzerland. My Dad was the last in the family to speak German. I asked him once to teach me and he said it was not important as we are Americans. During WW2, trustee POW's were used in the foundry where he worked to clean up etc. My Dad acted as interpreter for them. Some of the Italian guys did the same for Italian POW's. It's quite possible that the feds were keeping an eye on German and Italian Americans during that time. Unlike the poor Japanese Americans, there were just too many of them to inter.
If any of you guys make it to 3/4 of a century and I really hope you will, remember these times.

You recall incorrectly poptart. Luther ejected because he got tired of the repetitive, non-entertaining bullshit on this board. It wasn't fun to read anymore, so he said buh-bye. That's it.

That's not true MS. Luther was/is a pretty sharp guy, who knows how to tell a great story. His sensibilities are old school, as are mine. I've adjusted grudgingly, he got sick of the spamming, arguing and politics and other daily garbage that wasn't entertaining him. I've met the guy and know where he's coming from, and he's really just a nice, laid back, generous dude who decided to move on.

The board is what you make it, but I agree with his call. It didn't work for him anymore. It's our loss, not his.

He lurks and looks at the board... but won't post anything? lol

What a squirrel.

I picture him hunched over in front of his computer, still obsessing over who might say something good or bad about him.

And in fact, he did scratch me off his "People I like" list when I dared to post playful banter directed his way a year-or-so ago.

What a crime I committed.

Luther has gotten more delicate with each passing year.

Smack board.

No Goober, thank you though, as I wouldn't want to deprive you of your supply.

In all seriousness though, I never got why he quit here just to go there. It is just more of the same, although the few times I read it, they seemed less like this site and more like an old style Smack Chat very lite. Tardified and boring and blah blah whatever.

The commentary here is at least stimulating and funny, when it isn't being spammed by...you know who.
