Baseball tonight is making a big fucking deal about it. Keep your hands out of the playing surface.

Sheffield showed some nice restraint by not going into the stands. Must have been from the lack of BALCO cream  .

You know this whole fiasco is going to be talked about for many weeks, as a lot of things related to this are, even if it's not really all that big of a deal!

But in this case, I gotta side with Sheffield and give him credit for not actually pulling an "Artest" on that fan. There's just no excuse for fans interfering with play (yeah I know, Cub fan, "sin, Steve Bartman").

Since that fan was ejected and not arrested, we'll never know who he is, but who really cares? His team still won and no one ended up dead.

It was really hard to tell what month it was at that game tonight. Hell, this whole Red Sox/Yankees series for that matter.

As far as the series goes, it didn't quite feel the same as a Sept/Oct game until tonight. Even before the incident you had their ace on the hill getting taken out of the yard 3 times. The homeplate ump was terrible for both teams, tossing Papa Jack and Tito and watching Unit show him up after giving him, a questionble call. 6 games down, 3 to each, whoda thunk it

Typical Sox fan. Whens the last time a Red sox player was attacked, assaulted,or interfered with at Yankee Stadium? Another reason why Red Sox fan is a piece of crap.

Of course Sportscenter is spending 10 minutes looking over this game.

At least we are spared the daily Skankee/Red Sux report for a few weeks.

How about the Sox bullpen attendant that a couple of Yankee scrubs beat down last year?

I'm sure there has been a fan sitting in the right field corner at Fenway that has made contact with a player before...it's only a big deal because it involved the Yankees. Sheffield didn't do anything stupid like swing at the fan. It's such an overrated story...baseball is starting to match the NFL as far as having too much drama.

Exactly.

The media wants to churn some sort of controversy out of this when, in reality, it's much ado about nothing.

The fan was guilty of nothing, save for being a dumbass for hanging over the wall. The contact was incidental and, despite taking the time to go back and jaw, Sheffield deserves some props for showing restraint.

Non-issue ... let's move on.

Kinda surprised they didn't call the hitter out on fan interference. Then they could have let the rest of chowd nation beat the dumb shit down. Initially I thought the guy took a swing at sheffroid, but on further review I guess he was just guilty of leaning onto the field a bit. Sheff was just guilty of being a 'roid freak. Good thing he's been off it for a few months or he probably would popped chowdfan.
