The T1B "Pick mvscal's Avatar" Contest

Post by Shlomart Ben Yisrael »

Seriously, we should have a contest. Clicking on his posts leaves you a little "unfulfilled" without some graphic representation of him and his legacy.

Make an avatar or find something on the webs and post it here.

I'll give a crack at making something myself if I have time this week.

If this has anything to do with your little history skirmish with mvscal, you'll note that there aer a few other "slave states" on it that never left the union, besides misery.

How is it possible for one to fail so tragically in just a single, 31-word sentence?

Heroically retarded on too many fronts.

"The legislature passed an act of secession. In every particular it complied with the forms of law. It was called together in extraordinary session by the proclamation of the governor. There was a quorum of each house present. The governor sent to the two houses his message recommending, among other things, the passage of an act "dissolving all political connection between the State of Missouri and the United States of America." The ordinance was passed strictly in accordance with law and parliamentary usage, was signed by the presiding officers of the two houses, attested by John T. Crisp, secretary of the senate, and Thomas M. Murray, clerk of the house, and approved by Claiborne F. Jackson, governor of the State. The legislature also elected members of the Provisional Congress of the Confederate government, among whom were Gen. John B. Clark, who was succeeded in his military command by Col. Edwin W. Price, a son of Gen. Sterling Price, and Gen. Thomas A. Harris, who was succeeded in his military command by Col. Martin E. Green."

No, it didn't. First, the legislature didn't even have the authority to secede which is why it convened a constitutional convention in order to consider the issue. The vote was comically lopsided against secession. The faint squealing of fugitve Confederate sympathizers in Neosho had no legitimacy whatsoever.

I'm not even sure why you're so desperate to attach yourself to the Confederate cause. It was one of the worst, most reprehensible causes ever supported by men who claimed to be honorable.

Yes it did, and you know it. You're either trolling or horribly misread on the topic.

The first vote cast by delegates of the Missouri Constitutional Convention - 98-1 against secession - was taken months before Fort Sumter. This same convention also voted against sending arms or troops in support of the Union. The second vote cast by a quorom of duly elected members of both houses of the Missouri General Assembly resulted in the unanimous ratification of the Missouri Ordinance of Secession. This vote occurred after Lyon effectively declared war on the State and chased the legislature from its capitol.
I'm not even sure why you're so desperate to attach yourself to the Confederate cause.
Well, that makes us even, because I'm not sure why you're so desperately bent on trying to rewrite history. My "cause", btw, is to play out enough rope to watch you hang yourself.
It was one of the worst, most reprehensible causes ever supported by men who claimed to be honorable.
Prescient take, mvrcuscal.
