Rack the Jets

If you pay attention to such things, as most of those who hang out in here do, you probably know that the NY Jets turned loose of Thomas Jones for salary cap reasons. You may also know that KC signed him, while the Jets picked up the also discarded LT.

What you probably don't know is that The New York motherfucking Jets took out a full page ad in last sundays KC Star sportpages thanking TJ for his years as a Jet.

Very well done by the Jets, obviously a 1st class organization. LT could've landed in worse places.

1st class dumbfucks maybe. Jones is still a servicable running back. Complainian is shot. He's got nothing left. He's got no burst at all and collapses to the turf at the first contact.
D-O-N-E, done.

They better pray Greene stays healthy.

They took that add out because their locker room is in revolt over the Jets dumping Jones. Period. End of story.

So KC got over?

Cool... blind squirels and what such. It's about damn time they stumbled over an acorn.

Pretty nice backfield tandem now with Jamal Charles.

Green was going to be the feature back going forward, so who cares if Jones is still serviceable? They're paying Tomlinson 5.2 mil for 2010/2011 to ride the bench as opposed to Jone's 5.8 mil for 2010.... to ride the bench.

Oh...right. Because running backs never get hurt and it's just plain dumb to have the ability to limit your starter's touches and still have a credible running game. The Jets had the #1 rushing offense last year. They will be far from it this year. CT's 2.5 yards and a spray of tears ain't going to get it done.

Awesome "take", dude.

Nice.

As far as the Jets' RB situation -- ponderous. Maybe the Jets forgot about this deal they have called "the draft." It's my understanding that occasionally, they allow you to select RBs in this "draft"... and some of those young hopefuls are pretty good, and many make servicable 2nd and 3rd stringers. And most of them are willing to play for less than $5mil.

Thomas Jones Running Back 3/9/2010: Signed a two-year, $5 million contract. Another $500,000 is available through incentives. 2010: $3 million, 2011: $2 million, 2012: Free Agent

LaDainian Tomlinson Running Back 3/14/2010: Signed a two-year, $5.2 million contract. Another $500,000 is available through incentives. 2010-2011: Under Contract, 2012: Free Agent

In case you haven't been following along this offseason, they're putting their eggs in other baskets, like starter money (Cromartie)... instead of back-up money. Most organizations (even professsional sports franchises) make these things every year called "plans" that usually have some sort of "budget number" attached to them. Money doesn't just fall from the sky. Of course, being a low-level beaner at a landscaping company doesn't really help facilitate your understanding of this simple concept:: "Mow you lawn, señor?" Sí, Paco. Sí. Don't forget to weedwhack...

Think Jones would have stayed with the Jets for $5.2M? Teams and players are allowed to renegotiate contracts. Just thought I'd mention that.

Just back the fuck away from the keyboard and wait for you wife to type out a take for you. Jones would have been paid 5.8 million for THIS year. Tomlinson is getting 5.2 million for TWO years, with the second being a team option. If Jones would have agreed to that kind of deal, I'm sure the Jets would have kept him around.

Roethlisberger's rape seed has apparently crusted over your eyes. I never said $5.2 for 2010. I was referencing Cueball's post which clearly indicates Tomlinson getting $5.2 over two years with the Jets and Jones getting only $5.0m over the same amount of time with the Chiefs. Now.. I pose the same question that you're too cum drunk to understand- If the Jets went back to Jones and said we'll offer you the same contract that we are offering Tomlinson, will you renegotiate? I'm pretty sure he would have stayed.

I think its worth noting that Tomlinson wouldn't renegotiate his contract, and essentially chose to play elsewhere for less than what he wanted from San Diego.

Tomlinson has a lot of miles on him, and has lost that quickness to always make the first guy miss & get to the second level consistently. He's still good in the red zone, an area Green is also proficient in. As long as the Jets sign the shifty/quick Leon Washington, the Jets backfield is good to go.

I doubt it.

At the time... If he had known his best offer would be to play for lousy KC at an avg of 2.5 mil per.. then yes, of course you take 200 thousand more and the better situation in NY. If I were New England, I would have bested the KC offer. So I am surprised he got as little as he did. Did I mention he's in KC too? That's gotta suck.

If the Jets were WILLING to pay Jones what they are paying Complainian, you might have a point. But they obviously were not, or else they would have made Jones that offer at some point in the process. Besides, when you factor in the extra state taxes Tomlinson will be paying in New Jersey, Jones actually makes out better in KC with the smaller face value deal.

It took your boy Pioli a year to get up to speed at One Arrowhead Drive, but it looks likes he's starting to get his shit together.

Don't knock it till you've tried it. Maybe not Boston, but it's been held since the 1800's, usually in shitty weather, and draws a few hundred thousand people or so. Met my wife on St. Patricks day in 1982.

Any number attached to a non-performing asset is money wasted. CT's cap value could be a bucket of chicken and a bag of practice balls and they still would have overpaid.

Budget wise, the smartest thing they could have done is draft a semi-decent kid out of college somewhere in the mid rounds. He'd be much cheaper with fresher legs and would probably contribute on special teams as well.

Collecting some other team's dead wood (Nogmartie and CT) isn't much of plan.

That’s funny. I’ve worked in and around Boston for the last 5 years and don’t pay tolls. Ever. When I come into Boston for pleasure, I don’t pay a toll. Ever. Fuck you for being a stupid fuck who thought that taking The Pike was a good idea. Do some research the next time you travel. Furthermore, who in the fuck travels around by car in a city? No. I don’t want to dog history. Let’s talk about it = 5 titles in recent memory by the two teams mentioned in your self- immolating post. What about you? Are you seriously ragging on my teams for being winners? What in the fuck has KC won in the last 25 years? Your team is shit.
