Looks like somebody forgot to tighten the lug nuts.

That, or 7000+hp sheared the wheel studs. FYI, it's the latter.

That's it, OK. You gotta do this for me. Huge. Quickly. All right. Bye."

It probably was that, paul, but, question is why did they shear off? I suspect the lug nuts might have been under/over torqued or unevenly torqued resulting in uneven load bearing. This results in the stressed lug calling it quits which of course causes the rest of them to check out shortly after.

Damn that's a lotta horsepower!!!!

yeah, every motorsports fan goes to races hoping to see someone get killed, preferably a spectator.

This is just the kind of thing I was talking about when I had the discussion with Jsc810 about sports where people can easily be killed. I don't consider it a sport. This was both tragic and stupid. I would never attend an event like this where the danger of death is so clear. Most times it happens to the drivers but we've seen spectators hurt or killed before like this. I'm sure they'll say this was just a fluke accident for the viewer to be killed but any rational person can know it is a possibility when you attend such a thing.

So I guess going to baseball games is out since there's imminent danger of spectators being hit and possibly killed by foul balls or thrown bats. Soccer would also be a no-go due to the possibility of hooliganism. Basketball? Could be deadly if Ron Artest is playing. Never know when a Lambeau Leap could go horribly wrong, so choose your seats wisely for football games. Errant golf shots could potentially prove fatal, so best not attend a tournament.

Have fun watching live curling.

Good place to start thinning the herd. NHRA fan makes the average NASCAR fan seem urbane.

Are you kidding? A 40 lb stone can be dangerous even when moving only a couple of meters a second.

Especially in the hands of a drunk Canadian.

Not sure I'd be too worried about the stone - hard to imagine how a participant or spectator could get hurt unless someone dropped it on their foot. The brooms, on the other hand, could be deadly projectiles. Or a potential getaway vehicle if there are Wiccans in attendance.

The girl killed was a "team member" with one of the nostalgia car teams there and was in a wheel chair. She probably would have survived and been able to move is she had full mobility... very sad story.

Indeed.

Here though, where shitstains talk about Darwin and Death Pools while bending over backward failing to be humorous, it's just typical message board fodder.

This thread sucks and was glass dick a week ago. Goobs had it covered in the motorsports forum, where it didn't receive one reply.

You, sir, are a mouth breathing idiot.

I believe Paul is the only person in this thread who had a take that didn't suck.

btw, NHRA is way more exhilirating than any other form of racing.

But you'd have to be there to understand. Ya' feel it deep down in your gut, the primal sense of raw horsepower.

Wow what a sassy answer. If you want to put it that way George Bush almost choked to death eating a peanut and falling off a segway. So yes then we can't do anything or else we might die. But when you put a screaming pile of metal on a roadway and send it down where people are nearby you're really asking for serious trouble. It's easy for me to see. What they woman who died was in a wheelchair? That is so bad. I'm sorry but this is just not a sport and nodbody should attend these things. Put them out of business. There is no excuse.
