OCmike's Humpday Challenge

Post by OCmike »

OCmike's Humpday Challenge

There is only one rule: No more than one correctly answered question per person, per hour.

1. Name the island in the Marianas taken by US Marines and Army personnel in 1944 on which Japanese soldiers and civilians committed suicide by jumping off 600-foot bluffs overlooking the Pacific.

2. What was the working title of the Beatles song "Yesterday"?’

3. Name the Commander-in-Chief of all US Forces in the Central Pacific Theater of Operations during WWII.

4. What was the name of the character in Silence of the Lambs who threw gak on Clarice Starling as she walked past his cell in the psychiatric ward?

5. What female singer was offered the lead singer slot after David Lee Roth originally departed Van Halen?

6. Who was the US Army Air Corps pilot who dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan?

7. Who was the first overall pick in the 1985 NFL draft?

8. Who was the first quarterback to win Super Bowl MVP without throwing a touchdown pass?

9. Who was the first Super Bowl MVP to play on the losing team?

10. Which two teams did O.J. Simpson play his NFL career with?

11. Who attempted the most consecutive passes without throwing an interception?

12. Who has the most career home runs without ever being in a World Series?

13. Who is the only player to hit at least 30 home runs in his first four major league seasons?

14. Who are the only two players with 500 home runs, 3,000 hits, and a .300 batting average?

15. Which baseball player had the most hits in the 1990's?

16. Name the one US Navy carrier lost to attacks by Japanese planes and later a submarine during the Battle of Midway.

17. What was Aerosmith's first Number 1 hit in America?

18. Name the battle at which the Japanese first used the 'kamikaze'.

As of 3 days ago, I actually knew that...

Yesterday is also the most covered Beatles tune of all-time. Were we all listening to the same radio station Sunday?

I read that in a book on the Beatles waaay back in the day. Always thought it was strange, and for that reason it stuck.

Nope, though Brady holds the record for most pass attempts to start a career, without a pick (162).

17. What was Aerosmith's first Number 1 hit in America?

"I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" - from the 'Armageddon' movie soundtrack, in 1998.

It also marked the longest time for a band to have one since their inception.

And was subsequently covered by an East Coast rap group and re-titled "I Don't Want to Miss Miss Thang".

Wait, I forgot, I made the "scroll-wheel list", so I should be good.

BTW, the answer was Mr. Cub for a looooooooooooooong time until those two roid freaks passed him up.

Tough question. It's gotta be someone who threw the ball a lot in his career. Jeff George had a few seasons of decent td/int ratio and he always had a shit load of attempts.
