Mace,

Illinois played bad, but a lot had to do with our defense. Illinois is probably a better team, but we clearly outplayed them on Saturday. In the first half, both teams were an absolute embarrassment to the game of basketball. But Iowa played well in the 2nd half. I think the crowd and our pressure defense was really frustrating Dee Brown and that led to a lot of his struggles. Nice win though. Felt really good to storm the court.

There were a lot of positives and a lot of negatives from the game. The positives are we're starting to cut down on turnovers and we're playing excellent defense. We pressure the guards and our help defense has become exceptional. Those are 2 things we've never done before this year under Alford. Haluska seems to have his perimeter shot back too.

The negatives were the fact that we still have no consistent shooting. Brunner did not play well at all. He forced a lot of shots. I am also convinced that I could beat Alex Thompson 1-on-1. That guy is fucking terrible. Why the hell did we recruit him?

It's a nice win, but how many of these wins has Alford had in his career? This is one in a million. The problem is we never take that momentum on to the next game. It's a roller coaster ride that's starting to make me sick! Hopefully, instead of celebrating this victory for the rest of the year, we'll have the momentum from the win carry over to the rest of the season.

As usual, high scoring fast tempo Big 10 match-up.

There isn't even debate this year that the Big-10 is the #1 conference. So you can criticize the conference all you want.
