Are you telling us to grow up ?
See, it's tough love like yours Marty, that this country needs.

Rack that, but with one additional medical need to be addressed. I want a shitload of Viagra....enough to get one of those 4 hour boners....and a hot young nurse willing to lock the door for 4 hours and take the top position (assuming I'm too weak to do the work)....THEN, and only then, they can shoot me full of morphine so I can have a painless death and go out with a smile on my face. If that causes my insurance premiums to increase a few bucks between now and then, so be it. Money well spent. The old bat is much better off going out high on morphine."

Would you settle for a male nurse?Mace wrote:Rack that, but with one additional medical need to be addressed. Thanks for the offer, Marty, but I'll have to pass. I was thinking of someone (female) who actually look good in panties....and even better without them.Martyred wrote:Would you settle for a male nurse?
I'm thinking "reverse cowboy" would be a good way to sign off.Mace wrote:Rack that, but with one additional medical need to be addressed. Hey, I'll have four hours, so I think there'll be time for both. I can live with...errr....die with that.Mikey wrote:I'm thinking "reverse cowboy" would be a good way to sign off.
As I understand it, it's a panel of Palliative Care case managers who review a patient's record to make a recommendation to the Palliative Care specialist, who advises the patient. You might think this is just adding a layer of bureaucracy, but the positive is that you get a standardized level of care (fewer physician errors) and as a result, a net cost savings. And remember, these are advisory boards. The final determination will still be made by the specialist and patient (or family).Tom In VA wrote:Thanks for the education OCMike. I think the point is though - shouldn't it be the Palliative Care Counselor helping Grandma and possibly her children in making the decision rather than a panel ?
I think I meant cowgirl.Mace wrote:Hey, I'll have four hours, so I think there'll be time for both. I can live with...errr....die with that.Mikey wrote:I'm thinking "reverse cowboy" would be a good way to sign off.

Yeah, it's a very new field of medicine, so I can understand a bit of the uneasiness with the topic. But I was really disappointed in the talking heads that ran with the "death panels" farce. There were a lot of legit angles to attack the non-reform bill and they go into spooky fairy tale mode? Sad. And I think the ridiculousness of that attack helped it gain traction.Mikey wrote:The main point here is that the patient and their family make any final decisions. As such, "death panels" is a complete misnomer. The folks tossing this accusation around would presumably have the patients make these important decisions with no outside medical or other advice at all.
You mean it's not happening already?mvscal wrote:There is nothing ridiculous about rationed health care and if you think that can't or won't happen here, you're a fucking moron.
And here come the insta-experts... This is why Barry got a reform bill passed with zero reform in it. You tools were too busy screaming about slippery slopes and marginalized yourselves as alarmist kooks. Had Barry been forced to stay on point with just one thing...just repealing the anti-trust exemption...we could have made huge progress. Thanks for nothing, asshat.mvscal wrote:There is nothing ridiculous about rationed health care and if you think that can't or won't happen here, you're a fucking moron.
progress on what, you remembering to set your lineup?OCmike wrote:we could have made huge progress.

What a nation of infantile dipshits that can be corralled by boogey-man ghost stories into voting against their own self interest.

So you mean the health care executives and actuaries who will determine rates and coverages based upon the government parameters, and then tailor the policies to cover their ass with profit, while having lots of time to manipulate the government programs ?88 wrote:
To me, a "death panel" defines a group of bureaucrats that are given the authority to make health care rationing policy decisions when there are insufficient resources to provide complete and total healthcare to all, and the end result of such policy decisions is the death of at least one person because they did not receive the healthcare that would have prolonged their life.
You are an idiot. In the world of socialized police if you want a bodyguard or a private eye or a CCTV or a baseball bat or a better lock you pay for it. Same would go for healthcare which is a hell of a lot better than what we have now.88 wrote: In the world of private healthcare, if you want a certain medical procedure and your insurance contract doesn't cover it (or your health insurance company refuses to pay for it), you can still get it if you pay for it yourself. In the world of socialized medicine, if you want a certain medical procedure and the government healthcare system does not permit it, you don't get it (unless you can find another country that has a private health insurance system and doctors willing to perform the service for cash). Simple truths.
Rack The insurance industry has been rationing and limiting benefits for years now. Prob where the record profits came from...and the eventual gubmint takeover.mvscal wrote:There is nothing ridiculous about rationed health care and if you think that can't or won't happen here, you're a fucking moron.
