So far roots music, bee bop and scattered early rock offerings.

Far be it from me to criticize any effort our T1B DJs put forth and I'm not about to start now. Honestly, I spent more time watching the NDM-OU game last night than listening to the music so I won't comment on it much other than to say:

Bri, you played epic sets in the past and you didn't/don't need to fix what ain't broke. You don't have to try to match 'variety' with Smackie, or whatever it was that made you dissatisfied with your previous shows. That said, it's your show and you do what you want with it. I'll be around regardless, just for the chat if nothing else.

It was nice having ML and Snutz drop by last night, first timers I believe. Hope they drop back by again sometime. It was also nice that Indy ended his self imposed exile (or whatever caused his long absence) and offered to renew the chat/radio subscription. Said it cost about a $100 a year, which isn't peanuts, at least not to me. Props for stepping up like that, yet again.

I try to keep an open mind, not be stuck in any certain genre or time period. But I know what I like, even if I've never heard it before. If it hadn't been for Mgo introducing me to Built to Spill, I probably would've never heard of them. Now, I'm a BTS junkie.

Anyways, you bailed too early last night, right as the game was getting over. You used to play 'till at least midnight. I was going to request something by Supertramp, maybe this if you have a decent studio version of it. Not so easy to find, at least not for me. Maybe I don't know where to look.

Oh, I can already hear Van and Dins ridicule over liking something that gasp... was a pop radio hit back in the day. So I'd tell you to save it, but I know you won't. So just go fuck yourselves in advance, ok? Thanks.

Great job BSmack. Great variety. Great selections. Beat the hell out of any radio station I could have been listening to.

Weave in a little Lenny Bruce, and you'll be near perfect.

I was only listening for a short while but was really enjoying some deep, deep, deeeeeeep cuts. The only place you get to hear stuff like that on a radio broadcast is Bob Dylan's Radio Hour. And that's a fantastic show. Dylan has an encyclopedic knowledge of music and musicians and has great stories to accompany his selections. His shows are usually themed. Anyway, thanks for putting some thought into stringing together some really great music, BSmack.

Its on Crime of the Century.

Don';t worry, I'm not going to totally abandon prog music. I just want to weave some new/old sounds into the mix. Which kind of necessitates some changes. I think they'll be good. The show will be twice as unpredictable as it was before. Which I think is saying something. Of course Marty thinks that means only 3 hours of live Zeppelin boots. Marty, just because I am CAPABLE of playing a show of all live Zeppelin boots doesn't mean I do it all the time.

Music lovers understand what it takes to build up a library of tunes like Bri and Smackie have available. Originally I was just "borrowing" and buying tunes I wanted to burn onto CDs to play in my car. Hence my very limited library. Since I got my newest car with Sirius/XM radio, I have little use for that anymore. If I hear a cool tune on "Deep Tracks", "Ozzy's Boneyard" etc. on the satellite radio, I'll buy it at iTunes and add it to my library for playing.
I'll be back up here around 8PM EDT and play a couple hours during the NFL, WWE, or whatever you might be watching. See you then.

Antoine "Fats" Domino take on "I'm Walkin" was my first heavy rotation song when I inherited my dad's old 45 collection. It was those oldies that I cut my teeth on back in the early 70s.

ah, 45s, those black CDs with the big hole in the middle and circular scratches on both sides. Vinyl ruled in the glory days of DJing.
