For the record, giving DQ a buck to ship to charity is far from all I give. But you're missing my point. I understand they really don't care where they get their money, they just care that they get it. The point is you should actually get some sort of satisfaction from donating money to a good cause that has nothing to do with how it personally benefits you. Who gives a shit about that small little tax break you get? Wow, so you have a few extra bucks in the bank at the end of the year. Whoopee. Plain and simple, if you're donating money to charity not because you sincerely want to help those that need it, you have serious character flaws. And before you start calling me a Jesus freak again, you should probably know I haven't been to Church for anything other than a Funeral in about 15 years and I think religion is for fat chicks and meth addicts that need direction in their lives. It all started with stomach pain. After going to the ER for several medical tests, Aidan of Lindenhurst, Ill., was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. Aidan immediately began a yearlong series of treatments at Children’s Memorial Hospital. He underwent aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, a triple stem cell transplant, and had a tumor removed. Although these treatments were hard on his little body, they were a success.

“We’re forever grateful to Children’s Memorial,” said his mom. “The staff made him feel like a superstar every time he walked through the doors. It’s an unbelievable place, and we couldn’t have asked for better care.”

Today, 6-year-old Aidan doesn’t even realize all he’s been through. According to Aidan, he had a sick tummy and now he’s better. His confidence, empathy, sense of humor and overall passion for life contributed to this amazing outlook.

Aidan loves to play soccer and was just assigned to play on “Team Energy.” He enjoys video games, wrestling with his dad and hopes to be an astronaut someday.

Treat 98% of all children needing heart or lung transplants.
Treat 88% of all children with cancer.
Treat 76% of all children with cystic fibrosis.
Treat 90% of all children with sickle cell anemia.
Treat 72% of children with pediatric AIDS.
Devote 60% of their services to children under age six and 25% to newborns.
Train 60% of pediatricians and 80% of all pediatric specialists.
Educate families about issues like child safety seats, helmet safety and bicycle safety.
Devote nearly a quarter of their care to newborns, who require the most intensive nursing and medical care of all patients.
Provide $2.5 billion in charity (uncompensated) care each year.

I maximize my tax break, yes. just because I do that does not mean I do not get satisfaction for doing so. And anyone who wants to question my motives I will say to them I can cancel the contribution I yearly make. But I won't. Good tax break. Good cause. Those who benefit from my dollars would not throw me under the bus regardless of my motive or reasoning.
