Can I just say that I went to a pair of Phillies-Marlins game at Citizen's Bank Park last year and that was one of the most enjoyable baseball trips I've ever taken. Philly fan was NOTHING like they seemed.

I was there on the day Bobby Abreu got traded to the Yankees and he didn't play because he had just been traded but during the game they had a warm ovation for him and he walked out of the dugout and the crowd cheered him. I assumed they would have booed, but I was wrong.

The ballpark was awesome. My 2nd favorite park in all of baseball (behind Kauffman Stadium of course!) and the fans were great. Well, except this one idiot that thought my Iowa football jersey was a Steelers one and started yelling at me that the Steelers suck. He never figured out it wasn't a Steelers jersey. Probably shoulda figured that it wasn't one considering all NFL jerseys have names on the back. But hey, one idiot out of a crowd of 25,000 ain't too shabby.

Philly fan was actually surprisingly civil and cool to talk to. Nothing like you hear from the media.

Scout's take: "That's a good question because I don't think the ball-and-strike umpiring is very good. It's too inconsistent. Players want to know what the strike zone is and they adjust. But too often a pitch is a strike one time but the same pitch is a ball the next. I'm not a Tim McClelland fan. I've seen him stick it to guys, and he makes it personal. I like Jim Joyce, along with Rapuano and Welke."
