Hee-Haws v. Raiders

Post by poptart »

A lot of things set up well for Oakland in this game.
I think they've got a reasonable shot at winning their 2nd consecutive division game.

- Dungver took a swift kick in the 'nads with that 4th quarter Chicago comeback on Sunday.
A serious blow to post-season hopes.
Lingering effects?

- 2nd straight road games are often not a friendly thing.

- Oakland got a MUCH needed spark of confidence by finally getting over the hump ...... and in a road division game, on Sunday.

- Payback.
The Raiders got punked out of a game they feel like they should have won against Dungver in week 2.
They'll be ready to make amends.

Culpepper played his best game of the season last week.
The passing game actually looked like it was up to NFL level.
Most importantly, he took care of the ball.

The Raider O-Line manhandled the Hee-Haws last time out, and I see no reason for that to change this time.
Fargas goes over 100 again this week.

No matter who gets the carries for the Mules, I look for success for him.

For what it's worth, Oakland probably has the best kicker/punter tandem in the league.
Raider fan was calling for Janikowski's head after his missed two kicks and had another one blocked in week 1 -- all of them off the dirt.
Since missing the do-over kick (upright) kick v. the Hee-Haws in week 2, Jano has missed just one kick -- a 64 yarder, off the upright, that would have had the distance from 70+ yards.
He's made 5 kicks over 50 yards, and he COMFORTABLY leads the NFL in touchbacks.
He's had his best year, by far.

And Lechler is just sensational.
Dude somehow just gets better every year.
Hell, pretty much the only reason I kept watching the games the past month was to see how far our punter could kick the ball. lolz

Close game this week, and the Raiders win it 22-20.

Culpepper has a bad quad.
Didn't practice Friday and is listed as questionable.
McKlown would get the nod over Russell, or so says coach Kiffin.

Might be time to change my prediction.

You don't need a quad, do ya?
Rub some dirt on it and get in the game, 'pepper.

Fargas runs for 150+

Russell gets his first action.

Raider defense dominates.

Shanarat's head explodes.

Revenge was sweet last week after being beat at home by the Queefs. This week we get revenge for the missed field goal Jano had at the Donks.

Culpepper is inactive for today's game.

McKlown, with a bad finger on his left hand, is starting -- and sure to suck left gonad.
R. James' boy, Russell, figures to see action.

Too bad Jimmah is also inactive.

KC taking it up the shitpipe at home v. SD
Oakland moves up into a tie for last place with a win.

Don't fuck this up!

Russell with some first half action.
Yep, he can sling it.
Yep, he's got size -- one tackler can't be counted on to get him down, unless he's got a clean shot at him.
Looks like a young Culpepper, + a couple o' inches and 4-or-5 biscuits.

I'd pencil him in for the Hall of Fame.

Raiders up 7 at intermission.

EXCELLENT game by red-headed stepchild, McKlown today.
Bad paw and all, he made the plays that needed to be made.

Sweet job by the O-Line, and J. Fargas continues to impress.
Can't say enough about him.

Defense showed up, and thankfully, Dungver really didn't.

You're welcome, Chargertard.

Good game by the Raiders
Looks like the Raiders are on their way to being a better team and it looks like the Broncos are going to continue to give up a shit load of points no matter who they play thanks to turnovers and a shitty run defense.
Props to the Raiders

my only saving grace is that I didn't have to watch it......

instead, I enjoyed the taser-like thrill of watching the Gnats and the Bears slug it out in another epic show of offensive fire-power

rack the genius of Shannahan as he continues to improve his position in the upcoming draft......

Nice prediction and takes, Pop.

Great game of course. Any win against Dungver is great but there were a lot of highlights that made it great. It was nice to see the Silver & Black better than the Donks in just about every phase of the game: running, run defense, passing, play calling, penalties...it's a rare chance to watch Ratahan burn on the sidelines. After getting run over by the Vikings and that nobody from the Chiefs, it was nice to see the run defense step up big time.

Seeing Russell get some snaps was fantastic. Hearing the Raiders fans boos when McCown returned, was no surprise. Still, I've been on McCown a lot this season but the guy came through. When the Raiders were 2nd or 3rd down and short, McCown excelled. Third and long? He's the wrong guy.

Fargas' progress has made it pretty clear that both Jordan and Rhodes will be working elsewhere next season. Don't look now but Fargas is 9th in the NFL in rushing yards! He's on a pace that could put him in Raider yardage territory only achieved by Marcus Allen, Mark van Eeghan, and Nap Kaufman (sidebar: makes me recall Warring).

Let's hope the discipline and perseverance continues and all our patience is rewarded as it has been the past two weeks.

YES!

Nothing like kicking a rat in the teeth! Even Kiff had a chip on his shoulder and he remembered what the rat fink told him after thier first meeting "You did the best with what you have" he let the team know this before kick off and had them pumped to kick some mule ass! Turnovers seem to help a lot but what impressed me was that we made TD's off those turnovers or Bronco mistakes.
