Lecavalier As A Leaf?

Post by Smoked Meat »

Lecavalier came extremely close from being traded to Toronto in 2001. Of course, too bad for Leafs fans. They'd be much better off now with Lecavalier among their ranks. However, I can only imagine how lethal that would had been to Habs fans!

Of course that would've been a great trade for the Leafs now but back then, he was a very average player in 2001-02...just 37 points in 76 games. Last season was his first season where he averaged more than a point per game. He appears to be emerging as one of the premier players in the league but he's taken awhile to become that type of player. He probably would've melted in Toronto. He's better off playing in a market like Tampa where the pressure is off.
