Back when they were a real band.

Back before the guitarist and bassist OD'ed in rapid succession...back when Chrissy still did the drugs.

Didn't somebody put Tattooed Love Boys up on here a while back?

Nice. Truly one of the best bands of the 80s

No. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

But the first two albums were pretty badass.

Donned the waterskis and started eyeballing the shark tank by 83.

Nice one.

What's frustrating though, is that a load of the rare stuff is getting pulled off for copyright. It seems you're best off downloading it before it vanishes.

Another great one:

Do a search for 'Top Of The Pops', disregard all the later shit, and you'll strike gold, whatever music you're into.

'Beat Club' is another good 'un, but this is the finest thing on YouTube at the moment;

Decemberists...short vid, shitty sound, and you can't see Dins up near the front.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3md9TX5gJlg

But this is how we spend a weekend in the park around these parts.

I thibk I paid $5 for that show...with the Violent Femmes headlining(and hours and hours and hours of bands before that). I think they jacked it up to $8 last year...and I was PISSED.

They won't post this year's lineup for quite a while.

I'm going to see The Decemberists in Orlando on April 8. Their only show in Florida. Can't wait!

$20 plus damn Ticketmaster fees. But it's OK. I love them.

Some unusual stuff:

Two by Bo Diddley - sure, you've heard them a million times, but these were filmed in 63 for some television special at full throttle - worth it just for the energy. Far from the normal clips:

Bo Diddley

Roadrunner

Lonnie Mack doing 'Wham'. Brilliant in that it's a home film in colour, live in some bar (you can see patrons walking back and forth in front of the camera):

I can't open this thread without getting all Pretenders-nostalgic up in here.

A live clip of Message of Love. Even casual observation of the guitarist and bassist lends quite a bit of insight as to how they both ended up OD'ed very shortly thereafter.

They were on top of the world...and they just let it get away. Chrissy just hasn't been a happy person since then, which I think had more to do with her two close buddies dying than her signature hair style never really catching on.

rack you patsy. i've seen meloy and his crew 1.5 times and i really need to see them again in april. i think the new album will sound awesome live.

here's to them keeping it real with castaways and cutouts on their tour. too priceless of an album to only play a couple songs from live.

A brilliant sax attack from Kent's Sounds Incorporated:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLF_x12-Vok

THE back up band to have in the very early sixties. They got their name in the States after touring in place of Johnny And The Hurricanes (musicians union rulings had an English band tour the US for every American act that went over).

Little Richard called them the best band in the world and you can hear them behind every big mid, late fifties act - Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee Lewis, Freddy Cannon, etc. Also provided back up for the Beatles on "Sgt. Pepper", notable 'Good Morning'.

Tough to find film of them anywhere!

Good stuff from the opening acts at The Beatles Shea Stadium concert in 65:

King Curtis - Soul Twist

Sounds Incorporated - Fingertips

There's a decent five-part film on there with all the opening acts, set up, interviews, etc.

King Curtis was cool, but Sounds Inc. come across like some sort of kid's show.

I'm thinkin' "The Wiggles".
