Pretty specific questions there, moth.

Are you rafting?

Driftboating(they invented the driftboat on the McKenzie River, you know)?

Fishing?

Fishing from a driftboat?

Camping on the bank?

Regardless, it should be a good spot for all of the above. Pretty big river for a "mountain stream."

Haven't spent as much time in that neck of the woods as I'd like, but it's on the western slopes of the Cascades, and you can't go wrong there in early fall(which pretty much started about now).

Eugene/Springfield to the west. Easy jaunt to Sisters/Bend/Sunriver/Black Butte and all that good stuff to the east.

Those are pros, I guess.

Cons...they pretty much hate californians just as much there as we do up here.

moth, have you ever thought of killing yourself?

Seriously, for the good of mankind.

Many on this board could say the same for you. Don't you have some big pics of San Francisco to be posting right about now? Dumbass.

I grew up on the McKenzie River
Awesome times and good memories

It is some cold cold water but awesome rafting and fairly good trout fishing...although it has been pretty overfished by all the turistas

Some good places to grub along the way....
and make sure you hit the old McKenzie Pass for some awesome views

The fly fishers love that river... its a great rafting stream.

Might consider wearing a life jacket and keeping a 1/2 level of sobriety. Don't want you to be the 2,245 person to drown in Oregon this summer, and at least the 3rd on the McKenzie.

Theres a great course fairly high up there, Tokatee... 18 holes about 3500 foot elevation. Its also a great drive over to Sisters and Bend from there. Plenty of killer trout fishing in those High Cascade Lakes.

If you're talking about taking Hwy 26 from 84 through the mountains.....one of the best drives in the west.

That is about 120 miles to the north from that area.

And 26 and I-84 don't intersect. One goes to the north of Hood, one goes to the south. Either one is a spectacular drive, though.

Then again, so is the Old McKenzie Pass.
