Man, this school is going down the drain. First we have MV2's debacle for 2 and a half years now we have Deron Washington kicking players in the face. What a horrible year for VTech athletics.
Additionally, I want to know why these coaches are doing more. Specefically I mean Beamer but also Seth Greenberg. Why do disciplinary actions always have to come from the AD/Prez. How come these coaches aren't stepping up and leading by example.
Vick should never have played the 2nd half of the Louisville game and probably shouldn't have been in the game. But why does it continualy take upper managment to drop these decisions?

I am so proud of my alma mater
VT sports has become an absolute embarrassment the past couple years. I am not sure what the school can do about it though, other than completely gut the athletics department, starting with that douchebag AD Weaver. He has let this shit fester for too long and now any action he takes seem to be merely damage control.
I think the behavior is a combination of an inferiority complex the university has and recruiting in the wrong areas, plus settling for "questionable" recruits due to the in-state competition.
All I do know is that they had better get their shit together soon or there will be some serious repercussions down the line, including increased scrutiny from the NCAA and loss of alum donations.
Tough times to be a Hokie fan.

I watched the game last night and I can't say I was too surprised. We had some very questionable players in Seth's 7 years here. While we never had the incident of last night, there were plenty of other embarrassing incidents that occurred during Seth's tenure. Any discipline that was levied against a player came from our AD as well. As much as Seth said he is for his kids, he is more for himself.Sky wrote:Additionally, I want to know why these coaches are doing more. Specefically I mean Beamer but also Seth Greenberg. Bigger program in a bigger conference. He always wanted to be in the Big East and he got his wish when he left for VT. I am sure he didn't anticipate the conference realignment, but he is in over his head regardless of if it's the Big East or the ACC. Street ball isn't going to win in those leagues.Sky wrote:You mean like just getting to the next level or a bigger program?

The scary thing is in that his 3rd year here he had a bad season as compared to year 2. I have watched a few VT games this season and the same pattern seems to be developing as it did here.stuckinia wrote:sin, 0-6 in ACC play
While we're 0-6 in the Big East, we're playing with 6-7 guys and having a walk on playing significantly at PG. Seth seems to have a full roster at his disposal. One thing that plaqued his teams here would be when conference play started he shortened his bench to 7-8 players. The style of play he coaches demands a 10 player rotation minimum. He would always rotate 10-11 players early on in the season when he was here.
He did some good things here because our program was in the bottom of the barrel. He plateaued after year 4 and played the blame game on everyone but himself. While we're struggling right now, I like the position we will be in with a full roster next season. We've given West Virginia, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Villanova all they could handle. That is the fight that we didn't have under Seth.

I don't know about what else has gone on at VT but I'm going to cut Deron Washington a little slack on this one. Yeah, he slightly kicked a guy in the face. But in his defense, it was in the heat of battle, he and his team were frustrated, and sometimes, you just kind of lose it. I was watching and when he was tossed out, Washington never argued, never pouted, knowing what he'd done was wrong and after the game apologized to Melchionni and Krzyzewski. That's making the best he could from a bad situation. One game suspension about right.
