BC and VaTech a combined 0-6. Enjoy the view from down thar. I'm sure they'd be fighting for a title in the Big Least.

Hansbrough is gonna kill people who don't double team him. I think he's the most polished freshman big man I've seen in a long time. It wasn't a pretty game for the heels though, and I don't think they pull that game out against a more disciplined team.

BC will turn it around - they've got too much talent.

The title of being near the bottom with USF you mean.

The Big East is loaded this season.

VT may be 0-3 in the ACC, but they have palyed both Duke and UNC to the last shot. Not bad for a "football" school.

I saw those 2 games and the game against FSU and some things just never change with Greenberg's teams. Street ball at its finest.

I wish FSU had Greenberg. Hamilton can recruit but cant coach. Before him, Robinson could coach, but couldnt recruit. I wish they could find someone who could do both.

Are you freaking kidding me? After witnessing 7 years of Seth's bullshit I can tell you he can recruit, but he can't coach to save his life. He was able to sneak up on some ACC teams last season, but that is over now.

You are definitely correct about it being street ball. There is no such thing a penetrate and pass on this team. It is all about the dude with the ball trying to score on his own.

However, after the dismal state of Hokie bball the past couple years, simply being competitive is huge.

I hear you about the being competitive part. Seth did some good things here, but he never got over the hump and he stagnated. The last few years went the exact same way: start out with a good OOC record with a couple of nice wins, be a game or 2 over .500 in Conference play until February/March game and the team went in the tank.

I see his script is going the same way at VT. He shortens his bench in Conference play and it is not conducive to his style. When he rolls 9 or 10 guys in the rotation he is fairly successful. Free throw shooting still seems to be an issue as well. I do like Dowdell. He has good range and can go inside. He was going to come to USF before Seth left for VT. Sure wish we had him now.

I do agree with you about the no dribble penetration and then pass. We had a bunch of selfish players during his tenure here. While we are currently hampered with injuries we play a good team game, which makes me feel a bit better about the next year or so.

Exactly the point I was conveying before. Seth did a great job recruiting both Jackson and Waldon to USF, but he didn't improve them at all in their 4 years here. In fact, they both regressed in terms of overall play. Jackson got many an easy basket being the cherry picker at the top of the 1-3-1 zone. In big games he disappeared. Waldon was a great rebounder, but his scoring declined in his last 2 seasons. The only player who showed improvement in Seth's time here was Will McDonald and that was more of a result of having Clyde Vaughn coaching him. Okafor credited Vaughn for his improved play at UConn.

You're better off with Hamilton. We're going to be better off with McCullum. You can see improvement in the play of our returning players this year and that is a direct result of coaching. While McCullum hasn't been that great of a recruiter it should get a bit easier with our affiliation in the Big East and having Julius Jones on our staff. Jones is from the Northeast and he has some nice ties there.

This year is going to be a long one for us, but we have battled well against WVU and Syracuse, so I think we can win a few games against some of the lesser teams. A few wins in the Big East would be a few more wins than the local beat and national reporters were predicting for us.

Cueball's comment might have been when of the dumbest posts that I've read this week.

The Big East may suck at football but don't for a second think that it's a weak basketball conference. It's arguably the best from top to bottom. There's only 1 out of 16 teams with a losing record.

They have six teams in the top-25 (including three in the top-10 and four in the top-12), with Syracuse almost in the top-25.

Let's not forget that Va Tech was a perennial bottom dweller in the Big East, yet contended for the ACC title in their very first season in the conference.

Sadly, I'm afraid my Domers are going to miss the tourney this year. By that, I mean the Big East tourney.

An 0-3 start this season doesn't bode well. Granted, those three losses were by a combined total of 15 points and against three of the better teams in the conference (Pitt, DePaul and Syracuse), but this is the same team that beat IPFW, Columbia and Wofford by a combined total of 12 points, all at home.

The next three games are absolutely crucial. Anything less than a sweep of those games seriously jeopardizes our chances of making the Big East tourney.

VT didn't exactly contend for the title - they finished tied for fourth with an 8-8 record behind 14-2 UNC, 13-3 Wake and 11-5 Duke. They certainly did better than expected though.

I agree that contending for the title was a bit if a stretch. But hell, they have played Duke as close as any team this year. I see them pulling a few upsets in ACC play and then getting smoked by some chump team like UVA.
