Anyone grab a Xbox 360 yet?

Post by Rack Fu »

Quite impressive. The extra crap that is available through Xbox Live is pretty cool. There is a lot of customization you can do. The Marketplace is a neat concept.

The next-gen graphics are incredible. I put it on my new 32" Sharp Aquos and the games just look amazing in HD.

Games I have:

Call of Duty 2
Perfect Dark Zero
Madden 2006
Need For Speed Most Wanted
Condemned: Criminal Origins

I bought a $1000 bundle that came with two more games (King Kong and Quake 4 - returned those as I have no interest in playing them), three extra controllers (sold two of them) and two play & charge kits. I'm not a big fan of first person shooters on consoles since it's so much harder to aim with a controller than it is with a PC and the keyboard/mouse combo. Nevertheless, CoD2 and PDZ are excellent games. Condemned is a unique and twisted game. Madden is a bit stripped down but the missing stuff isn't anything that I will miss. The gameplay and graphics in Madden are far beyond the Xbox and PS2 version. Night and day really. I would have rather had Project Gotham Racing 3 than NFSMW but NFSMW is a really good game. Reviews are comparable to PGR3.

I have had it since Tuesday and have had no problems with it whatsoever.

Worth the price of admission? Probably not but what is?

For those of you looking to pick one up before Christmas...

Best Buy is doing a "re-launch" of the 360 tomorrow (12/18/05). First come, first serve so there will be long lines and camping out before the store opens.

http://xbox.clambert.org/ and put in your zip code and the site will tell you how many systems your local Best Buy will have on hand in the morning.

Two of my bestest gaming buds got them at midnight the day they were released.

So far, the early faves are Tiger Woods 2006(MUCH harder than previous versions) and Madden 2006. Then again, we've ll been Tiger Woods addicts for a few years now, so it was a no-brainer("no-brainers" being perfect for my crew).

One got Need For Speed, which has pretty much sat idle since. I don't see it as nearly the upgrade over previous versions that some of the other 360 offerings are.

One of my friends with the 360 managed to somehow knock their TV off its stand while hooking up the 360 and break it. This evening, I might just have to head to his place and check out what it looks like on thwe new 52" HD he decided he needed for a replacement(for like $900...at Walmart, since he lives in the sticks where they actually have a Wally...didn't know you could find a 52" HD under a grand). I've heard 360 in HD is beyong words, but haven't checked it out yet.

Another acquaintence pre-ordered two 360's...dude saw the writing on the wall. On the release date, he picked up both. The next day, he was playing one, while hawking the other for 2 freaking grand on E-Bay the next day. My hindsight is good, his foresight is apparently better.

I have TW '06 for the PC so I didn't want the 360 version. Call of Duty 2 is a pretty sweet game - I'd highly recommend that to them.

what about the complaints about MS releasing it with bugs like they do all their crap?

Problems with the system were well below the 3-5% industry standard for a console launch. The issue was that since it was such a high profile media event given the long lines and shortages, that the small percentage of problems came from the very vocal minority.

Mine works flawlessly.

I'm not purchasing shit until next June when the price has dropped, the bugs have been worked out, and the new NCAA Football game is ready for release.

That was the one I forgot to mention. That's being played to death.

And of the dozen or so people I know altogether that got the first-day 360's, there have been zero problems. Leave it to the media...

Mine locks up. I am extremely dissapointed with the damn thing. We get charged $50 more for our system and it will drop as soon as any good games of note are out.

Locked up 2wice in Condemned when saving. Locked up on Halo 2 when I tried to pull the dashboard up. Locked up on Perfect Dark, when I went to check my friends list. When playing DVD's, I sometimes get a small frame rate issue, so slight that it is excruciatingly irritating. It looks like an ultra high speed strobe light.

Everything is a port. I did like COD2 and Condemned, but not enough to justify my purchase.

Nothing comes out till March. I pulled my Xbox out of the closet and put it back up, so I could go rent some new Xbox games. That is signs of a shitty system.

The games are overhyped as well as the system. I believe the Xbox was clearly the winner in the last console war, as far as quality. This time I think it is going to get severly bit in the ass by Nintendo and Sony. And that sucks!
I fucking suck.

Yeh, that consumer includes Japanese and Chinese. Oh, wait X360's are being pulled off the shelf to fund the American Market. Silly fucking me, I thought Asians (who outnumber us) weren't buying Sony and only Microsoft.

I don't think so:
Meanwhile, demand for the Xbox 360, which debuted in late November, is exceeding the company's own expectations. Microsoft is on track to have shipped 4.5 million to 5.5 million units by the end of June, Gates said. Shortages experienced during the holidays were due to high demand and normal manufacturing complexities in building a new product, he said.

Revisions, people. They're called "revisions".

As in:

If the XBOX360 Ver. 1.0 has bugs, Ver. 1.1 will most likely
remedy them.

XBOX's revisions went up to 1.6.

Anyone w/360 get the Media Connect/Windows Media Center link up going?

Very nice! I have access to my 15 gigs of music (wirelessly) without buying a single thing (beyond the 360 that is). With a little configuring, I'm streaming that shit to the 360.

How do I access that? I've got the wireless set up for my Live. Does it use the same connection?

Although this is written in your usually babble, it would appear that you seem to think that 360s are being pulled off the shelves in Asia to satiate the American demand, leaving the Asians to purchse PS's?

Is that what you're saying?

Asians buy Sony consoles because the PS's have way more retarded RPG-type, moronic, anime-looking "rice" games that imbeciles and pedophiles can't get enough of.

I prefer to shoot monsters and zombies in a FPS environment. Like a man should.

Upon further research, systems projected to be produced for Japan are being produced for the US, because many 360's still sit on their shelves.

The Xbox was the greatest system ever. But Microsoft fucked up this time, terribly. When is the next game coming out?

They should have held off on revealing their system until they had enough games and a pipeline of games coming out. Instead we get 4 games over the next 4 months.

The launch was shit. My 360 collects dust and I'm not even sure if I should send it back in for a repaired one, because I don't play the damn thing. It locked up a couple of times, but not in points in the game where it would necessitate throwing the controller. Will it one day? I don't know yet, because their isn't fucking shit to play on it.

No complaints from me. I'm very happy with my 360. It had plenty of launch titles that will monopolize my time until the next batch of games come out.

Hate it with me!

Have you tried Geometry Wars? I pick it up every once in awhile and I also purchased Zuma.

I'm not into first person. I did play Condemned with the lights off. That kicked ass. Alan Wake and Tomb Raider are the only games I'm looking forward to coming out in the next 4 months. Alan Wake is another Horror game, but 3rd person.

I desparately wanted NBA Live to be good, but I can't get into it. Overall I can't get into sports games very much, because it doesn't interest me to play the same type of game against people with different jerseys. I would enjoy online, if I wasn't in such fear of getting stuck with a shit talking 10 year old making me question my lifes decisions. I've got 2 people I generally enjoy playing with, one is some young kid from England and the other is a married guy in North Carolina. None of them have bought any games and just rent, like I.

I wish I could put Hexic in and just use the ambiance.

I just purchased that new Marble Madness. Talk about addicting. Try the trial version, you will see what I mean and if you have a wife/ girl she'll take it from you.
