Wolfman's "Over & Out Tour- 2025"

Post by Wolfman »

Tomorrow I head up to Sanford FL and take Mrs.O and my car on the Amtrak Auto Train to Lorton VA, from where UI drive up to NY and Ontario to visit family and friends. Likely it will be my final travls. Hobbling around with a cane and old age taking its problems. No PET, but I may keep notes of anything unusual. The auto-train is cool as it cuts out a lot of the mind bending I-95 driving. Highlights should beba night in Lake Placid NY, where I'd have a summer home if I had the $$. Also staying up on the St,Lawrence River, very nice country.

Enjoy your journey, Wolfie. Trains are, by far, the coolest way to travel.

Be safe, take care, and keep us posted when you have a minute.

Wait a minute! Over and out tour?!?! Hey, you’re gonna beat that prostate cancer! Don’t be calling your vacation an ‘over and out tour’!!!

I like the auto train---the bottom bunk is 6'4" so I can stretch out my 6'3" self. Worst part is going to see Mrs.O's brother who is checking out with dementia. Dealt with her oldest brother going that way until he passed on. Mot easy to deal with. Hope he's not too bad right now. It's his birthday we will celebrate.
FYI-- my cancer seems to be shrinking with the new med I'm taking.
Again--if I just vanish from T1B, you'll know. why.

How about a Wolfman's trollstop, 2025 North America tour?

Stops in Alabama, Louisiana, Ohio, Oregon, North Dakota, California, somewhere in Canada, Yucatan, and wherever else T1B lives.

Then the European and Asian tour, Carson is in Greece (?) and of course South Korea for Mr/Mrs Poptart.

Would make for an epcot PET.

Amtrak auto train from Sanford FL to Orion VA, next night in Goshen NY to visit my brother. Next a night in Lake Placid NY, where I'd have a summate home if I hit the Lottery big.
next a night in Johnstown NY near where Mrs.O lived. Celebrated her brother's birthday at the place where he shaving care in Gananoque Ontario.
Next to Richmond Hill ON staying with Mrs.O's 1st cousin once removed.
next on to Buffalo to stay withnour younger daughter and her family. Then on toCortland NY for a night where we used to live before moving toSW FL to visit. Then short drive to Vestal NY to stay with our older daughter and family. Then back to Lorton VA and Amtrak to home.
A lot of highway driving that ate away at me. Only bonus is having a handicapped parking tagbto reduce some walking which is becoming more and more painful.
Never again.
I feel like I'm slipping away. Going to see my primary care MD sand get some more help.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like quite a trip with a lot of driving, in spite of taking the Auto Train.

I’ve always felt that we should be able to leave when we damn well want to. Wolfie, if you’re tired of fighting it, I understand. But don’t give in and let it beat you if you ain’t ready to bail. You’ve got lotsa family that wants you to be around. Hang tough, ya’ old fart.

Three of the locations you mention bring back good memories:

Lived in Endwell NY not far from Vestal during my early years.

Played against Cortland High School in football and track.

Went to college in Buffalo.

Hang in there...

Grim, but you're probably past all that. Every day on the right side of the dirt is a blessing.

Godspeed and enjoy the shitty Amtrack food. At least you'll be acclimated if you have a medical emergency and end up in a hospital.
