You're trying too hard, although this isn't an easy one. I might've gone with "Drop in Hole, Hoochie Koo," but that's admittedly not much better.
I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record.

Yes, I know, not my best effort.

But when info becomes available, then there is a mad rush to post it first, to try to beat TMZ, and under such intense pressure and circumstances, well sometimes you don't bring your A game.

Speaking of trying to hard, that basically is my criticism and review of the latest Mission Impossible movie. Sure, Tom C does his own stunts, but overall the movie tried too hard to be dramatic (and politically correct), and that was a distraction. I bet HPG will concur with that assessment, although with better style and eloquence.

I would have went with Rick Derringer: Not getting high all the time ever again.

Tough to come with a good death thread title for nobodies.

I would have gone with "Rock and Roll...Who the Fuck are You?"

That's because you're an idiot.

Saw Derringer play with led Zeppelin at Day on the Green.

Derringer kicked ass. Led Zeppelin came on after them.. of course it took them an hour to get on stage. Led Zeppelin and Bill Graham's bodyguards got into a fight backstage. Then two songs in Bonham falls over his drum set drunk. And the whole stadium was screaming Derringer Derringer Derringer and booing Led Zeppelin.

You don't fuck with Bill Graham. After that incident he said led Zeppelin would never play in America again and they didn't.

Led Zeppelin is the worst band I've ever seen live. Derringer was fucking awesome.

I don't see how Led Zeppelin's incompetence onstage equates to Rick Derringer's greatness. Just as if the Kingston Trio's tour bus hits a lamp post, this does not make Rick Derringer great.

His most notable accomplishments?
He notably discovered Weird Al Yankovic and worked as a producer on his albums and videos, including the Michael Jackson parodies “Eat It” and “Who’s Fat.”
Rick pivoted genres in the early 2000s and began making smooth jazz.
I've never heard of Rick Derringer.

I was gonna post something about that song, too, but it’s more associated with its more well-known performer than its composer. Pulling from one of his deeper tracks, an appropriate thread title would be “I Played Guitar.”

If my memory serves me well…

I think he wrote it, played it on Edgar’s live album, produced it on Johnny’s album and later played it on his own album. But definitely more associated with Johnny.

All true. The studio version is on his self-titled album, but he plays it too slowly, imo. He does it closer to Johnny's version on his live album:

It’s a great song. Johnny’s version is a R&R classic.

Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo was included on the Dazed and Confused soundtrack, which has to be Top 5 on everybody's all-time list. I think I'll watch it tonight in Mr. Derringer's honor unless the Wolves are keeping it close against the Thunder.

And "Rock n roll, embalmie koo?" Jesus Christ, Roo. That's just fucking awful.

What's the relationship between Derringer and the Winters?

Pretty extensive professional collaboration. Derringer was a member of "Johnny Winter And" (the "And" referring to members of The McCoys, one of Derringer's earlier bands known for "Hang On Sloopy"), and also performed with White Trash and the Edgar Winter Group. Derringer wrote songs Johnny Winter recorded (e.g., "Roll with Me", "Still Alive & Well"), and performed live with both brothers.

Yeah, easier and more fun to criticize others than to put forth any effort to create.
