Five million more unemployment claims expected, but now layoffs are broader and could be more permanent

As the shutdowns now cover states responsible for more than 90% of the country, employers are being forced to make tougher decisions about cost cutting and economists expect that means layoffs in all types of jobs across various industries.

"You're going to see more and more broad-based layoffs — temporary as well as long-term layoffs," she said. "The further we get into April, the more we're going to get beyond hourly workers to salaried workers." Those layoffs could be more permanent job losses...

Return to what kind of work? Return physically or remotely?

And what of job training? Will there be education expense help?

What is the end result of all this?

Criminal banks (UNLIMITED bailouts), criminal Wall Street (bought by the Fed), criminal large corporations (funded by/taken over by "the government").

All the while citizens are holed up in their homes, given a piddling sustenance and promised loans.

Your posts are now reduced to pure msnbc bullshit propaganda.

Millions of small businesses will receive stimulus checks as well.
Every aspect of this economy is coming ROARING back, whether you like it or not.
The stock market was up 3% today.
In a couple months, when all your predictions are flushed down the toilet, what in God's name could you possibly say?

Your narrative is a joke, dude.

I did not set up their retirement accounts.

A healthy market will find fair value.
What you have now is a gross distortion of a proportion that is almost unimaginable.

The markets obviously need to fall drastically -- and the U.S. needs to go back to sound money, not this fiat monopoly money bullshit.

Your kids and grandkids will be infinitely better off if it were to go down that way.

Stop thinking about your own round face.

But... sound steps will not happen.
Your owners have you by the balls.

For the first 80 years of the Dow Jones, it never went above 8,000.

In the last 25 years it has gone from 8,000 to 29,000.

Just fine.

For the first 40 years of the Dow (1915 to 1955), it traded in the neighborhood of 2,500.
Wild deviations from this resulted in wild corrections.
Roaring 20''s to -----> great depression.

For the next 40 years of the Dow (1955-1995), it traded in the neighborhood of 5,000.
Wild deviations resulted in corrections.

One might expect the period we are in now (19995-2035) to show the Dow trading in the neighborhood of 10,000.
Wild deviations from this should result in a correction.

We went up to 29,000 -- and even with the massive drop that took it down to 19,000 it was still grossly inflated.

The Dow should rightfully experience a correction down to under 10,000.
By 2035 it might rightfully be expected to trade in the neighborhood of 20,000, not now.

This is a grotesque freak show for the ages.

We are in a big, f@t, ugly bubble, as your Dear Leader correctly said when he was courting your vote in 2016.

Softball,
I just got thru explaining to you that the stimulus package was designed to help the economy get back to exactly where it was
These extreme unprecedented circumstances, called for extreme measures.

And mark my words, the market understands that in just a few months, millions will be back to work, businesses will be back up and running, and the economy will be stronger than ever.

If we didn't take these extreme measures to counter these extreme unprecedented circumstances, you'd have seen complete and total economic collapse.

For you not to understand the grave nature of what we were facing? Is great cause for serious concern about your overall perspective on things.

Your link actually misquoted the CDC guidance (which was linked in the article). Nowhere does is say "should return to work" as you claimed (made up?) in your earlier post. It says "may continue to work." And there are a lot of caveats.

There's a big difference, though you may deny it.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... tices.html
To ensure continuity of operations of essential functions, CDC advises that critical infrastructure workers may be permitted to continue work following potential exposure to COVID-19, provided they remain asymptomatic and additional precautions are implemented to protect them and the community.
Pretty irresponsible reporting by Healthline, whoever they are (maybe a branch of OANN?). A lot of gullible people will probably read their article and be completely misled because they're too lazy to follow up.

Ok I will concede on the semantics. However previously the CDC was saying workers shouldn’t be going into the office. Now saying may be permitted is a big change.

But that s new guidance makes sense. Those who have been exposed and didn’t get sick or those that did get sick and have recovered should go back to normal activities.

It's a lot more than semantics. The CDC document also limited their guidance specifically to critical infrastructure workers. Nothing about going back into the office. Though admittedly some critical infrastructure workers may work in an office I would think that most were in the field somewhere or some facility other than an office.

President Donald Trump has now placed the entire country under a major disaster declaration.
First time in history.

The entire country is now under a major disaster declaration for the coronavirus pandemic after the U.S. death toll reached the highest in the world on Saturday.

President Donald Trump approved a disaster declaration for Wyoming on Saturday, which comes 22 days after the first disaster declaration in New York, the epicenter of the virus.

All 50 states as well as the U.S. Virgin islands, the Northern Mariana Islands, Washington, D.C., Guam and Puerto Rico have received a federal disaster declaration...

Even with reinfection numbers? ie. the recovered who spontaneously got sick again and died.

Are the new recommendations for public health or economic health? Inconsistencies, like with the ever changing mask protocol explanations.

It is for both.

The US has seen 20,000 deaths so far from the ‘Rona. Let’s say it reaches 90K, which is an estimate I saw on Friday. That sucks but it really isn’t that different than a bad flu season. Next fall we will shut down the economy again because there is an especially deadly flu outbreak?

So far (allegedly)...

Coronavirus deaths in 2020 = 20,000
Coronavirus deaths in 2019 = 0

If you'd sit down with a good clinical psychologist, you'd take those all important first baby steps towards normalcy.
But you won't. You like to wallow in your own stupidity.

Noise and light reminds me of childbirth. In a cocoon, the only world you've ever known, suddenly violently ejected from it never to return, all of the sensations you thought you were experiencing revealed to be mere muffled shadows of the real thing: noise and light.
