Homer FFL ?

Post by velocet »

Upon scanning the Washington Post recently I found a short article about FFLs in general. At one point it mentioned that owners who assemble a team exclusively of players from their favorite team will lose the season.

Whether or not that's the case, what would a total homer league be like?

Ask toos' how much fun it is when you load up with players from your team... and they tank.

The place to make a homer pick is in the later rounds with players who you slot in as bye week players or as having potential to break out. For example, in my league at work I'll be looking at Willie Parker in the 9-11 round range to fill out my last RB slot. If something happens to Staley, then I get a starting RB on the cheap.

That being said, if you pick a player from your favorite team in the first 5 rounds, you better be damn sure what your picking.

I'm a homer fantasy guy. I'll admit it. But just like anything else, it only works in moderation. No more than three guys from the Packers on my roster. It's worked pretty well for me over the last four or five years. But then again, picking Favre, Green, Walker, or Longwell worked out for a lot of folks. Homers or not.

We've done it in the past over at TNW/Smackboard. It's a little boring

The whole point of FFL is knowing what players too play, and more importantly, WHEN! Winning ff players, combine their skill with a little luck. All the luck in the world will wont do you much in ff, if you dont have some skills. Skills= not going homer.
