An Ode to One of the Greatest Raider QB's ever..........

Post by Raydah James »

Rich Gannon officially calls it a career.
Gannon, who signed as a free agent in 1999, led the Silver and Black to three consecutive AFC Western Division titles from 2000-02 and compiled a 45-29 regular season record as a starter from 1999-2004. He started in 71 consecutive regular season games from 1999-2003, a Raiders record for quarterbacks.

Gannon led the Raiders to the AFC Championship Game following the 2000 and 2002 seasons. He guided Oakland to Super Bowl XXXVII, as the Raiders became the only team in NFL history to play in Super Bowls in five different decades.

Gannon was named to the 1999, 2000 and 2001 Pro Bowl, and was the Pro Bowl MVP in 2000 and 2001. He ranks first in team history in 300-yard passing games
"Not bad for a little-known guy out of the University of Delaware"

Mad RACKS to the fucking man-he single handedly brought respect and winning back to the Raiders.

RACK the only QB in NFL history to have 10 300 yard passing games in one season:

RACK the 2002 NFL MVP who took no shit and epitomized leadership:

RACK the QB who PWN3D our division for 3 straight years while terrorizing the opposition:

and finally, RACK the journeyman who refused to be 2nd best and rose to the top of the league:

Richs Record Breakers:

Rich Gannon broke the NFL single-season record of 404 completions.

His 43 completions also set a Raider record and was the second most by a player, in any game, in NFL history.

21 straight completions: Most ever in a single game by a Quarterback

3195 yards: Most yards ever passing by a quarterback in the first 10 games of the season.

60+ straight starts which is a Raider team record.

Most 300 yard passing games in a season at 10.

Most consecutive 300 yard passing games.

Most completions in a season ever.

Most attempts in a season in Raider history.

Most attempts in a game in Raider history.

Most yards in a season in Raider history.

Most completions in a season in Raider history.

[marq=right]RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

......and goodbye, Rich.

RACK R. Gannon, yes.

Raider fan bitched a fair amount about him, and he wasn't the "type" of QB we were accustomed to, but he played a LARGE part in Oakland rising up again in the late 90's-early-'00s.

Unfortunately he'll forever be remembered for playing his WORST game in his BIGGEST game.

Sad for him, because he was a helluva player.

Old school.

Props...I remember posting by blast when the Raiduhs signed Gannon. Thought it was a futile signing. The guy showed me tremendous guts and the ability to win with the dump and pray err run attack. I give Gannon huge props for making me look silly. He was nails, and I'm glad we don't have to face him anymore.

I'll give it to him, he was a gamer. He could take one helluva beaten.

A QB giving away a SB is my claim to fame, it was Robbins that cost you yours.

You've been a board nonfactor for years, and if not for your lame ass story about trying to assblast your wife in the shower and sending her into to tears or being jacked by 2 fat hogs you shot your horizontal line on for your wallet in new orleans you'd be another TRAVIS 13 or TraiderCAPSLOCK.

You won't see many KC fans in here giving props to Gannon because they're jealous, but I will truly miss seeing him play. He was awesome to watch play QB. Did I still slightly enjoy seeing him sacked?

Oh yeah.

I hated that fucker for nearly his entire career but never mistake hatred for lack of respect.

As a Bronco fan I quickly lost count of the number of times that fucker shrugged out of sacks only to run for a first down when the play was completely falling apart around him.

Fuck he was frustrating at times. :x

Dude was a gamer no question about it, he changed that entire franchise for the better.

Now that him and Gruden are gone the Faiders of the 90's are back in town.

I'll rack Gannon for being one hell of a player any day of the week.

No, but we're still seriously pissed off that Elvis Grbackup led the best KC team since 1970 into the 1997 playoffs rather than Gannon....and then let him go to a division rival the next year to top it off.

Talk about rubbing salt in a raw wound, that had to be the biggest set of fucking blunders in franchise history, and we'll never forgive or forget it.

Rich gets his props from me. He just earned them in the wrong damned uniform.

Word. I still remember Marty defending that idiodic decision. Elvis Grbac is our starting quarterback. Elvis Grbac is our starting quarterback.

:x

Props to Gannon though. Dude was a class act.

Nice wording!

RACK Manny Mota for having BODE on Babe Ruth. Ruth could have NEVER come close to breaking the pinch hit record!

Exactly.

This thread isnt about an overrated, decrepid fucknozzle who admitted to being 'Average' all those years until Coryell came along with his system and made him deece. It doesnt concern the mudholes that were consistently stomped in your pussy QB's ass by the Raiders when he played, either.

This thread is about a fucking warrior QB that Chargerfan would cut thier legs off for if given an opportunity to turn back the clock and grab him-RACK fucking Gannon.

Fuck Dan Fouts, Fuck your pathetically laughable franchise, and Fuck You, pussy.

Gannon's numbers are better than Dan Farts' in some important categories.

Career passer rating

Gannon: 84.7
Farts: 80.2

TD - INT ratio

Gannon: 180-104
Farts: 254-242

Completion Pct:

Gannon: 60.2
Farts: 58.8

Of course Farts passed for 43,000 yds in his career to Rich Gannon's almost 29,000.

Farts was 3-4 in playoff games.
Gannon was 4-3 in playoff games (and a Super Bowl) as a Raider.

Rich won't get a sniff of hall consideration, that is true.

He was a late bloomer and never really came into his own until he was well into his 30s.

For 4 seasons, from '99 to '02 Rich Gannon was a flat out STUD nfl qb.
If you don't think so, look at the numbers he put up.
Verrah impressive.

My view on Gannon was that he needed to put together 3-or-so more big years after his '02 MVP year to merit legit hall consideration.

He got dinged two years in a row and father time caught up with him.

He's not a hall of famer, but if you're a football fan and you can't appreciate a guy such as Rich Gannon (regardless of uniform) then I pity you.

Farts is somewhat overrated, IMO.

Over half of his nfl seasons he tossed more picks than tds.

Exactly. Which is why the Chargers playoff record is not relevant here.

Make up your mind, Monica.

You can't say that because its a team sport, Fouts isn't responsible for the Chargers being losers and then say Fouts, as an individual can't be considered a loser.

Fouts was the LEADER of his team- the fact that all his teams were losers is relevant to his individual achievements- or lack thereof.
