The April 8th Eclipse

Post by Softball Bat »

The eclipse has been mentioned in a couple other threads.

This link has a lot of info on it -----> https://www.greatamericaneclipse.com/april-8-2024

YouTube is chock-full of videos on the April 8th eclipse.
There is a wide array of perspectives on it.

Don't look directly at the sun, folks.

It's fake. Done on a Hollywood soundstage.

Cloud cover over the entire path of the eclipse is not a coincidence. They are trying to hide the appearance of Nibiru. Softbat knows what I'm talking about.

Why is it an American eclipse? Is that like Halley's American comet?

Some people were expecting the Rapture to happen today, but I haven’t heard anything yet about DJT ascending into heaven.

We're at the maximum eclipse now, can't see anything due to clouds. Meh.

Nobody rising up in the clouds due to the Rapture so far either. What a letdown.

That was one of the most weirdly exciting things I've ever witnessed. I was in the path of 98.8% totality at 3:17PM EST. Starting at 3PM, I sat on the back patio, cig and a beer in hand, and watched it slowly, oddly darken outside. At 3:17, I could have sworn it was dusk. Just can't explain how odd the feeling was.

Back upstairs in my office now, watching it slowly brighten back to normality through the window. That. Was. Freaking. Cool.

I am in a 97.5% coverage area & it was a total bust. No animals freaking out, computers didn't crash, no airplanes fell from the sky and there was a general lack of mass hysteria. It would have been darker with a decent April shower.

The bright spot was having ice cream and hanging out with the chick's at the yoga studio, double yum.

We got to see totality in 2016 when it crossed Wyoming. Not a cloud in the sky. Shadows became creacent shaped. The ring of fire was visible for what felt like 20 minutes. Birds stopped tweeting and it was dead silent. Looked like sunset 360° around. Completely immersive and surreal. It's an oddly emotional experience.

We wanted to drive to Texas for this one but schedules would not allow it. Sounds like the clouds were jerks so I don't regret staying home.
Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby.

I’m sure seeing a total eclipse would be cool, but this was a tad underwhelming, unless you think about what’s actually happening. I mean, it’s pretty cool that a dragon is eating the sun. That’s what I told the kids next door. Their mom home schools them and I knew she wouldn’t tell them the truth.

Did you tell them to take a good long look at the dragon so that they’d be sure to recognize it next time?

Nah. They’re good kids. I don’t want a buncha Stevie Wonders and Helen Kellers running into my truck.

Me and Mrs. 88 went to Nashville to see the one in 2017. It was freaking cool. Our peeps still in Cleveland were mesmerized today.

The yellow line is the output from our PV system today. There were no clouds for most of the day, but there was a strange dip between about 10:00 am and noon.

In bbq terms it would be like 2 cases of Busch and back door action with the piggie wife.

We were in Ellington, MO, small town in the southern part of the state, and it was absolutely perfect. NWS was predicting high clouds, and they were to the south in the morning and some even passed over early in the eclipse, but during the real show it was crystal clear.

We saw full totality in 2017 from Scottsbluff, NE and this recent one was more spectacular than that one; not saying the previous one wasn't right up there either.

I'm going to post a PET because it was nothing short of amazing and we did make a small vacation out of it.

Here's a preview:

Image

That was taken with my Sony Handycam home video camera. Our cell phone cameras were not behaving well and were adjusting to bring in as much light as possible and distorting everything. All that technology in our cell phones and they couldn't have a setting to adjust the darkness in the camera?

Look for the PET later today.
