That is all you need right there. The city council bankrupt the city. If they had handled their business, no one else gets involved.
A person goes to a public pool & starts to drown. The lifeguard is busy in her chair playing on her phone. The person drowns.

In Left Behinder's world the person is at fault for drowning because they went to the pool, not because the lifeguard was negligent in keeping people safe.

What a sad sad hack you have become. In your example the lifeguard is the city council.

Diego does t have a particular level of government to blame. He simply looks at all involved and finds the one with an R after their name and points a finger.

This was a text book case of a government agency fukking up. Was it R or D?

Neither. It was just typical government incompetence.

So go ahead & explain why not a single city council member was indicted by the grand jury while Snyder & several of his officials (including his EM appointee Gerald Ambrose) were on numerous counts.

Financial mismanagement and idiocy isn't a crime. It is sad that these city council members were allowed to walk away from the mess they made for their citizens, but it is what it is.

The biggest driver of the financial mess was the city's pension and retiree healthcare. At one point before the water crisis it would have required $10,000 from every resident to make it whole again. This led the city council to look at ways to save money. Hence this:
The decision to separate from (the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department) and go with the Karegnondi Water Authority... a part of a long-term plan that was approved by Flint's mayor, and confirmed by a City Council vote of 7-1 in March of 2013.
Keep kicking your own ass. This is so sad it is funny.

Governor Rick Snyder appointed Darnell Earley to take over Flint in September of 2013. The switch didn't happen until April 25th, 2014. In October 2014 even General Motors stopped using Flint water due to its corrosive effect on their parts.

In January 2015 residents bring jugs of dirty water to a community forum & announce that children are developing rashes & mysterious illnesses (note: Legionnaires Disease started popping up just a few months after the switch).

March 23, 2015 The city council votes 7-1 in favor of reconnecting with Detroit water. They were overruled by Snyder emergency manager appointee Jerry Ambrose, who said it would be too expensive (sounds just like LS). Ambrose also said that the Flint River water was safer than the Detroit water that the city council wanted to return to. Six months later the report from Virginia Tech indicates that Flint River water is 19 times more corrosive than Detroit water.

It wasn't until July 2015 when Snyder COS Dennis Muchmore emailed the Dept. of Community Health to request that they look at the high lead levels of Flint's water that Snyder's administration lifted a finger to resolve the issue.

September 24th, 2015 A research team from Hurley Medical Center report that the number of children with elevated levels of lead in their blood doubled after the water switch.

October 2, 2015 Michigan Dept. of Health & Human Services confirms the data from the Hurley Medical Center research team & STARTS testing water in schools (how long has it been since this started?) & distributes water filters.

It wasn't until October 15th, 2015 that Snyder signs a bill to get Flint reconnected with Detroit water.

Do you really think it would have taken 19 months to get safe water switched back if this had happened in Highland Park? Or Medina, WA? Or Rancho Santa Fe, CA?

Snyder didn't give a shit about the people of Flint, and that's why he's now being charged. The need to acquire a cheaper water source was the fault of the city council. But A) they weren't the ones who made the final call, B) the EM made the decision to switch water sources w/o treating the pipes, and C) it was the Snyder administration who ignored the problem & dragged their feet doing anything when they were faced with reality. The blame for the loss of life as well as permanently harmed children lies squarely at the feet of Rick Snyder & his administration/appointees.

So all of that and yet the city council approved the switch in 2013.

Keep trying.

You remain a pitiful sad clown. I have repeatedly said the Governor deserves some blame. Yet you are trying and failing to put this only on the GOP. Keep your partisan racist hack going full speed, eh?
