The season is on the line...

Post by Softball Bat »

NBA - 7th game, 15 seconds left, you're down by 1, you've got the ball. Choose any player in history to take the last shot. Who is it?

NFL - Playoff game, 1:30 left, 1 time out left, you are down by 4 and have the ball at your 25 yd line. What QB do you want leading the drive?

MLB - 7th game, bottom of the 9th, you are down by 1 run, Bases loaded, 2 outs, What hitter do you want at the plate?

NBA - Larry Bird

NFL - Joe Montana (Brett Favre and homer pick Ken Stabler as honorable mentions)

MLB - I like the Pete Rose selection because you know he will put the ball in play and he is the ultimate gamer. In honor of War Wagon, I will select George Brett, though.

You can argue the first 2 all you want, but if you paid any attention at all to the last 20 years or so of MLB, how can you not go with David? He was a stone fukking cold killer in the playoffs. Multiple times.

Just noticed poptard's mention of The Snake.

He might actual have been even better than Roger at pulling shit out of his ass.

The other great QBs, IMO, were just parts of a machine. Very good parts, of course.

The challenge didn't mention the playoffs, so really a much larger stage.

Hammerin' Hank was definitely one of the all time greats, but I don't recall any heroic moments or even single season mind-numbing stats.

Hank was all about consistency.

He played a long time and put up very good numbers. Year....after year....after year. If my memory serves me correct, he never put up 50 HRs in a season. But dude put up 45 an awful lot of times.

Wanna go back and read the original post again?

"Playoff" was used once and alluded to in all 3 sentences.

And since playoffs are specifically mentioned, I guess you have to go with Michael for the NBA.

He definitely had that one iconic clutch game.
Legendary.

However for the scenario I described, I would prefer someone who could be more heavily counted on to put the ball in play.

Roger the Dodger was the master of the 2 minute drill.

And then there was Kenny who scored about 47 points in a minute and a half once!

What was that game? Forget if it was in the playoffs.

As a kid, being a bandwagon Steeler fan, I fukking loathed the Raiduhs, especially Madden, that fat, screaming POS!!!! But god damn, did they give us some excitement!!!!

I really feel bad for those younger than me that didn't experience 70s playoff football.

Wonder how many prison sentences would result from 70s Raiduhs/Steelers playoff games, if played the same way today. That shit was personal.

You really are a despicable tard.

Doesn’t matter what generation you are from. Having children with women you are married to and remain married to is optimal.

Not doing so is detrimental to all involved, as a rule.

Williams was the greatest hitter of all time.

When you look at his numbers and realize he spent 5 of his best years flying for the Marine Corps, it boggles the mind. He could have easily beaten Ruth's HR numbers had he not taken off the war years.

Well, some would argue
Ty Cobb
Rogers Hornsby.
But that's why we love baseball,
The numbers fascinate us since childhood.
The smell of the hot dogs, the crack of the bat. The fresh cut grass, the long ball, a mound of "big league chew" between your cheek and gums. The crotch grabbing, the signal stealing,
