Stocks tumble as Powell signals inflation is ahead

New York (CNN Business)US stocks tumbled Thursday after Federal Reserve
Chairman Jerome Powell predicted an increase in consumer prices this summer —
something investors fear will force interest rates up sooner than expected.

Powell, speaking at a conference Thursday, predicted strong job growth and increases
in consumer prices as the vaccine rollout allows the economy to reopen fully. But he
cautioned the Fed does not think the economy is at risk of overheating.
Still, the market reacted strongly to his interview. The 10-year US government bond
yield jumped and was up 0.07% at 1.54% around the time of the closing bell...

Speaking of anniversaries, Sunday 3/8 was the 50th anniversary of the Fight of the Century.

Undefeated Joe Frazier beat an also undefeated Muhammad Ali, in his first fight after being reinstated from his ban for refusing to be drafted.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fight_of_the_Century

Also the 50th anniversary of the burglary of the FBI office in Media, PA by the Citizen's Commission of Investigate the FBI, which resulted in a treasure trove of documents showing the corruption of J Edgar Hoover and numerous illegal activities of the FBI at the time, including the COINTELPRO operation, which became the subject of a Senate investigation. It also brought to light the plot by the FBI and Chicago police to murder Black Panther leader Fred Hampton in his home in Chicago.

The perpetrators used the intense interest in the Ali/Frazier fight as a cover for their burglary which, despite intense investigation, was never solved until 2014 when the members of the Citizen's Commission came forward to the press and in a documentary called 1971.

I'll have to admit, I never knew about this (or at least have no memory of it) until reading about it a few days ago. Need to check out the documentary.

If you care to spend the time watching the Geert video, he spells it out.

Basically, having all these people vaccinated will only increase the proliferation of variants, which will be more transmissible and deadly than what we've previously seen.

People who have had the vax are not, imo, going to be safe from variants.

And also imo, the vax will prove to weaken one's immune system such that they will likely fall ill from something other than Covid.

These vaccines were not FDA approved.
They were "authorized for emergency use," which is quite a different thing.

People should stop and think about that.

I've been around the block and I have common sense.

When someone(s) is selling HARD that you need to do something, you better use caution and think for yourself about what exactly it is they are telling you, and why they are pushing it so hard on you.

You cannot undo a vaccination.
People should think about that, too.

As always, people can do their own research and draw their own conclusions.

After all, poptart is just a troll on the interwebs, right?

And he thinks the earth is flat.

People might make that knee-jerk conclusion.

However, the "protection" they have is against the current strain -- and the current strain will become of less significance than newer, stronger strains.

The folks that have the vax will have weaker defenses to fight off the newer strains than people who had no vax at all.

This is according to -----> Geert (and others).

This isn't poptart just saying things.

That's fine, and people ought to do their own research.

Seeing as you posted a link for us to look at, it begs one comment.

The "take home" summary message at the bottom of the article...

Take-home message:
- Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche is a veterinarian who recently released an open letter boldly claiming that
the COVID-19 vaccines will be harmful to humanity by allowing the virus to mutate in dangerous ways...

They chose to summarize by starting out with the statement that Geert "is a veterinarian"...

They are taking about Geert Vanden Bossche, with all of his credential, and they chose to begin their summary by labeling him as... a veterinarian.

Yeah, he's just some veterinarian dude who's out on Youtube spouting his takes.

lol

Well, I think people should read your link, and also watch the two Geert videos I posted.

Do your research.
Hear all sides.
Make your own call.

The various vaccines 'leak'. That's a quadratic problem which has been reported since the beginning.

The chinese masks have multiple foreign particles non-chinese masks do not have. They don't have to be intentionally and maliciously introduced; poor quality control can lead to bad pulmonary health issues through state-sponsored negligence alone.

Related: News incidents of Black attacks on Asians is a Jussie Smollet style psy-op on behalf of the Chinese government and those working through them. It will come out -- too late, but it will be an 'oops, our bad' media shrug moment.

The intent is to cork ALL discussion of China's negatives as socially forbidden.

News flash...

No vaccine is good "forever" and nobody has claimed that the current vaccines will last forever or work against all strains.

Why do you think there's a different flu shot every year? You may (if you decide to get one) need a new Covid vaccine every year.

Sorry, but I'll listen to qualified American expert epidemiologists before I listen to a Belgian veterinarian. Or a Hoover Institute radiologist, neither of whom is remotely qualified to make any claims on the subject of Covid.

Stay safe. Listen to whomever you want. Keep a safe distance from my family.

The South Africa variant of the coronavirus affects vaccinated individuals more than those
who are unvaccinated, according to a new study from Tel Aviv University and Israel’s largest
healthcare provider.

The study, which was published Saturday and still requires peer review, looked at 400
individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus despite receiving at least one dose of the
Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and compared the prevalence of the South African variant, B.1.351,
with the same number of people who have not yet received a vaccination.

"We found a disproportionately higher rate of the South African variant among people
vaccinated with a second dose, compared to the unvaccinated group," said Adi Stern of Tel Aviv
University. "This means that the South African variant is able, to some extent, to break through
the vaccine’s protection."

Not only could the variant “break through” protections offered by the
Pfizer vaccine, but it uniquely affects those who have been vaccinated (around
eight times higher) than those who have not received the vaccine — 5.4% to 0.7%.

In other news...

The California Variant may be keeping infection rates down
Are herd immunity and the California coronavirus variant preventing a West Coast spring surge?

With coronavirus cases and related hospitalizations climbing nationwide, is California also headed for a fourth wave in the COVID-19 pandemic?

Coronavirus cases have risen in the Midwest, New England and the New York area, and there’s concern that Los Angeles County could be — as it has been in the past — only a few weeks behind trends coming out of New York. In the last week, average daily coronavirus cases nationally are up 3% over the previous week and daily COVID-19 hospital admissions are up 7%.

But so far, California remains in good shape, relatively speaking. California had one of the lowest average daily coronavirus case rates in the nation over the most recent seven-day period, while Michigan’s case rate — the worst in the nation — was 12 times higher than California’s, placing growing strain on hospitals there.

One factor that may be helping California — for reasons not fully understood — is the presence of the California variant. The California variant here might be helping to keep a lid on the U.K. variant, which is believed to be more transmissible than the conventional strains of the coronavirus and likely results in more severe illness and, as a result, a greater chance of death.

...

https://www.latimes.com/california/stor ... d-immunity

So, I can probably stay in California with complete confidence. If I decide not to go to South Africa.
