Well, it depends on who is doling out the money. The Dems? They want their slaves, but they just don’t like to call them that. But dependency is their game. LBJ even explicitly said so. The Republicans have their own agenda like cheap labor, but on the whole they are more libertarian between the two and at the very least expect people to stand up on their own two feet and go to work.

That being said, there is an expectation that given money these people would then spend it, ostensibly boosting the economy in the process. The actual reality is something quite different, but that’s the idea.

In a sane world, a shop owner would have the right to pull out a weapon and shoot that POS right in the face if he did not stop destroying the shop owner's property. Spot on. My party is based on this statement by you. A lot of blacks are feeling what you are saying that we might not be slaves in a literal sense but are in a way that we are dependent on government and we have to make a decision to stand on our own two feet which the Dems don't want and the Republicans do support. They won't give us a cane or a crutch, but they will offer a hand to get you started on the road from government dependency.

What’ll be interesting to see is the flight from deep blue states with a high tax rate to state tax free locations that run red. The SALT aspect of the tax reform may exponentially increase the departure of the middle class and wealthy from locales like California, New York, and Illinois to places like Tennessee and Texas. The possible fallout from this pattern of migration? These red states may turn a more purple-ish color from the influx of more Left leaning voters, thus producing by accident that which Progressives have dreamed of for years: a beachhead in the South.

I assure you that in the short term the GOP is far more worried about hundreds of thousands of newly minted Democrats in Florida just waiting to punish the GOP for screwing Puerto Rico.

What Rooster suggests is already happening. Texas will soon elect a Dem to a state wide office for the first time in decades.

This is t because the policies of the State have hurt the residents, instead it is the migration of others to the state that will cause it to happen. These residents along with the predominant minority of Hispanics will turn the tide here. Our large cities are already blue as are most the counties along the Mexican border.

Hopefully some of these migrants recognize why they left their previous state and don’t choose to make the same voting mistakes here.
