What's the difference between D# and a quarter note?

Which is better - a diminished seventh or a minor fifth?

Open tuning or mezzo soprano?

I enjoy the sweet melody of Goober bouncing around your dome.

Sometimes, it's not the notes you play...but the notes you don't play.

'Spray, you ever heard of Ardour (digital audio workstation)?

Because I'm a cheapskate...
...but handy with a soldering iron, I ordered this on eBay:

Image

It's a Chinese knock-off parts kit of the "Fuzz Face" guitar pedal. My local retailer is asking $210 + tax...
...but true to my heritage...Image...I'm trying to be as frugal as I can with my swindled hard-earned shekels...

I'll let you know how it turns out when I get it delivered and assembled.

Is it durable and well built? Can it take a moderate shit-kicking?

I'm working on a song about a good friend of ours...

Goober And The Damage Done

I've seen McTuber
He's a drunken bum
His posting history isn't fun
But every pervert's
like a settin' sun.

Ohh ohh, Goober's been run

Could you help me find that "Whose dome are you in?" thread?

Because you were obsessing about me. Again. Writing songs about me. You can't help yourself, can you?

Marty's obsession with me does concern me. He seems to be following your example, and I'd hate to see him wind up like you. All bitter and beaten down. Marty used to be good peeps.

Oh, I get it. You two little snowflakes want to take potshots at me in private. You fear the response. I'll leave you two ladies to have your fun.

Are you a Digitech RP1000?
Sorry, I left the thread.

I received those pedal kits I ordered on eBay. It took only a week to have them shipped from China...which is remarkable.
Image
Image
I put the Fuzz Face clone together this afternoon and...well...it works! For $30 it's a good approximation of a real Fuzz Face.
Image
The only downside is that they send you NO SCHEMATIC OR WIRING DIAGRAM. They don't even send you a link to a PDF or pictures of what goes where. I eventually Googled some rough pics (with Chinese notation...) and was able to put it together.
Would I recommend it? Sure. If you're handy with a soldering iron and don't mind doing a little sleuthing. Hey, it's $30 CDN, shipped.
I'll start painting the box (they provide an actual metal box, which somewhat surprised me) tomorrow.
I'm going to regain my composure before I try my hand at putting the bass compressor pedal together...maybe on the weekend. Then I can get my Queens Of The Stone Age on.

I'm planning on incorporating it with Ardour, my DAW of choice. I've heard good shit about BitWig, but Ardour (the base package) is free.
I just have to mess around with a pedal order...The only thing about Ardour is, it can be a pain to pull up plug-ins quickly.

All painted up. Two coats of primer. Two coats of pink paint. Two coats of clear-coat.

Image

Hot fluorescent pink. Fuck yeah.

Image

I still need to cut in the input and output jacks, but I want to assemble the rest of the components so I'm sure where the jacks will line up without bumping into anything else.

A real bitch trying to fit everything into the box...
Image
...I had to bend the transistors forward so the lid could close. I epoxied the PCB down so it wouldn't rattle around and I hot-glued the excess wires just to keep them from springing out any time I'd have to open it up for a battery replacement.
There's not much room in there, you'd better make sure your hole layout is proper. I got lucky.

Image
I swapped the cheap plastic beige control knobs for some nice metal ones I had laying around...
Image

The only real mistake I made was cutting the DC adapter socket at the back of the pedal, instead of the front or side. Not a big deal, but that one slipped by me when I was doing my layout.

This bass compressor gets quite a workout. It's now a standard pedal in the bass rig. I've tried it with other instruments and vocals as a makeshift high-pass filter and it does okay.

I was wondering the same? He's doing all this electronics geek shit that has my interest, then all of a sudden we got a fukking adjustable wrench (undoubtedly metric, as he is in Canuckland). Maybe he had to do some plumbing work in the middle of it.
