I just saw the bizarro poptard on....

Post by smackaholic »

...a game show. Some chick on who wants to be a millionaire had the question, what bridge is part of the route for the NYC marathon. She babbled on how she was a new yawkuh and said she had walked across this bridge the Verrazano narrows, many times and that it was so long, you could see the curvature of the earf.

No, you dumb bitch, you can't. You can see a curvature to the bridge, because suspension bridges, typically do have a curvature, particularly when they have to be more than 212 ft high in the middle. 212 ft, btw, is the height of the USS JFK's mast from the waterline. Otherwise it would have gotten knocked off when I rode it under the bridge in 1986.

I suspect what she is confusing her "fact" with is the actual fact that the centerline dimension between the towers is an inch or two longer at the peak than it is at the base. And I doubt she can see that.

Btw, I don't sit at home watching mind numbing game shows. I am on the ACK ferry, headed out for another grueling "work" day. I am looking out on the horizon trying to see the curvature and I have to admit, it's pretty damn flat looking. Maybe pop's on to something. Fortunately ACK is just 20 miles or so out, so I needn't worry about crashing into whatever the fukk it is on the edge.

I think that called for a question mark, not a period. Who else could fuck up a 3-word sentence?
