I should have remembered them. I actually saw Red Ryder open for The Romantics. That show was not a highlight of my concert going life. The third band on the bill was a Boston spin off called Orion the Hunter. They were abysmal. Even at $4.96 (radio station promotion), it wasn't worth it.

I've seen both Delta Moon(Sam's recommendation at a festival, frankly they weren't that impressive, but I was there anyway) and the NMAS (a couple of times, they were very good).

The late great Mississippi Bluesman RL Burnside w/ The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. A Ass pocket of whiskey starts at 22:40.

This was recorded in 96', and I did find it funny when at the end John asks RL for 40 nickels for a bag of chips. These days something more fitting might have been: "Hey RL, RL Burnside, RL will you like my Facebook page? What? If you don't get out of my face quick, I'm going to kick your ass, you son of a bitch! Hey RL, tell you what, will you be my friend? I'll tell you what, if you don't get out of here and make it fast, I'm going to put my foot right up your ass! OH!

Mr Wizard is probably the RL Burnside album I like most. It smokes, a cross between Mississippi Hill and raw electric rockin' blues. The slide guitar by Kenny Brown on Snake Drive is awesome.

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion contributed on Alice Mae.

Tedeschi Trucks is one of my favorite bands, I'd think they'd be well liked by anyone who enjoyed the Allman Brothers or Marshall Tucker.

Great band to see live, they're all very talented and put on a great show. I've seen them three or four times in the past few years and will be catching them in Paso Robles in a few weeks.

I love their live album. The studio stuff is kind of like listening to Grateful Dead studio albums. They're good, but you know it can be way better.

True. I downloaded their latest CD from Amazon Prime, listened to it once and thought it sounded a lot like their previous one. At least it was free.

I'll always go see them when I have the chance though.

Found the Black Keys on Allmusic, which were listed as similar to RL Burnside. Modern punk meets the Blues, just drums & guitar. Obviously they developed their sound at the time from RL imo. I checked out some of their stuff and preferred their earlier rawer sound, although some of their newer stuff sounds good too, which has evolved the addition of keyboards. Allmusic also had the Whitestripes listed as similar, & who I am familiar, but they're more punk & less blues.

Alabama Shakes is another I found on Allmusic, soul, meets indie rock & blues psychedelia.

The Black Keys might be the most overrated band of the last 10 years. The street musicians outside verizon center playing those gallon sized plastic barrel drum sets are better musicians than the Black Keys, who aren't even the best band with the initials B.K.
