I'm sure that list will transfer seamlessly to a police blotter. Props.

Milton tried to run recruiting smack a few years ago.

It did not end well.

See....

It's not "smack". I was just curious about how fans of other teams felt about their incoming recruiting class. 'Bama seems to have a killer one coming in. Damn, relax!

Man! Y'all need to let the guard down a wee bit and sometimes just take posts at face value, instead of reading crap into it.

Sorry that I didn't preface the post with "No smack! Just conversation".

Cripes.

PS - Having two frosh QB's coming in, one 'Deondre' and the other, 'De'Andre' is..interesting. Hope they are never in a game at the same time, cause Herbstreit would be hilarious trying to pronounce the two differently.

PSS - Life is short. Just try to have some fun and converse with others without having to watch every word one says. Preach-a-fying over.

Settle down Clarence. It's what we do.

As for actual recruiting talk I don't give a flying flip until they sign or matriculate. Anything else is useless since these kids can and do change their mind every day.

Don't know and don't care. MSU will take a bunch of kids with MAC offers and kick the shit out of people.

Michigan will have a smallish class of 16 or so and has only 6 commitments so far. Hoke was lining up a nice class until the season went off the tracks and guys jumped ship. Since Harbaugh arrived and the dead period is now over I think the spots will fill rather quickly. Michigan is hosting a bunch of guys over the next two weeks and I think Harbaugh flips a couple of big names, gets a few to re-up, and does some damage among the uncommitted. It will be tough to crack the top ten just on the sheer lack of schollies, but I think the average rating will be quite high. The 2016 class should be very strong.

I would look into this but, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I have a few things ahead of it on my "to do" list.

Ditto for Wisky. Get a bunch of 2- and 3-stars and coach 'em up.

Except that 4-star DB, who flipped to Oregon. Didn't know anything about the kid, but what I do know is that about 50% of the DB's in the NFL (and about 99% of the ones who make the Pro Bowl) come from LSU, it made me smile.

See Carson,...just a conversation about the topic and board reason in general. Pretty simple formula.

There's another simple formula you apparently are not grasping.

Humorless toolbag + meltdown machine + sketchy board reputation = Entertaining source of mockery for all.

You can legally sign more than 25 players a year, so long as you didn't hit the 25 limit the previous year and don't exceed 85.

Depending on which service you listened to, Mariota was a 2 or 3 star. He did OK.

Scooby Wright was a 2 star, and was one of the baddest mofos to take the field in recent years.

most of OSU's OL that are starting are:

Baldwin - converted DT (3 star I believe)
Price - 3 star
Elflein - 3 star
Boren - 3 star
Decker - 4 star

so the group that mauled ORE...was comprised of a position switch (Baldwin) and mostly 3 stars...coaching matters...stars don't in many cases (as Dins pointed out with Marcus and Scooby)...and the one that many OSU fans point to is AJ Hawk and James Laurenitis...I think their collegiate as well as NFL careers have worked out pretty good...

OSU's class this year will be top 10...next year's class will be the mother lode...

Le'Veon Bell was a 2-star. He was set to go to Bowling Green until MSU offered. Now he is arguably the best all-around RB in the NFL.

Recruiting is important...recruiting rankings, not so much.

I'm thinking we could sit here all day and cite 2 stars that turned out to be outstanding players. And 3 stars. And 4 stars. And five stars.

There's certainly an element of randomness to it all.

Wasn't that long ago that Jeff Driskel was named the #1 recruit in the country, and he's the new QB for La Tech.

absolutely we could...but where I think you have the rub here is the coaches who can evaluate and find those guys and then coach them up...that's why the A LEVEL coaches are who they are (as one part of their overall philosophy and such)...

To add to your point -- coaching up Joe Twostar into a decent player is what allows the top coaches to run a "plug-and-play" system, which is what allows teams to perform consistently from one season to the next.

But that's belaboring the obvious, I suppose.

Do you really care about points handed out by a recruiting service.

The only ranking of recruiting classes that matter are the ones done 5 years after the fact.

I think Gordon's different. A lot of backs have gone over 1,00 in that system, but not 2,000. He's faster than his predecessors and a very tough runner. And a team player as well. He'll be great at the next level.

What does that even mean? How can that even be quantified? Truth of the matter is, once a kid gets on different campuses, anything can happen. Nobody knows what's in a kid's heart. He may very well end up at SC, but I'd think he'd eschew the visits if he were 98% committed anywhere. doesnt really matter to me, I just posted it to bust your balls. DB is actually an area of depth right now.
