Florida has passed New York in population. From my perspective, things are hopping here. Jobs galore, Hertz moved their corporate HQ from NJ to here along with 700+ jobs, housing starts booming, highways expanding, another new high school proposed for southern Lee County. They built four since I came here 11/01. It shows what low taxes, sensible cooperation between state government and business can do.
"Meanwhile, back in New York State, Governor Andrew Cuomo took time this week to announce his state will ban fracking, which would have represented a potential bonanza for the state’s depressed upstate counties. Some states want to live and some states seemed determined to wither."

Florida's is increasing in size because the general population is aging.

You were able to make that correlation...no?

My aunt and uncle in Tampa used to his German exchange students regularly. These kids were the equivalent of Freshman and Sophomores in German schools. In Florida's schools they would test as seniors. Florida is a nice place to visit. I would never consider raising a child there.

I can't understand why...
Education is up to you, sure if you wanna go full liberal and raise a white flag?... fine.
I'm sure some overpaid tenured union teacher will raise your children for you.
The rest sack up and get the job done regardless of where we live.
I could have raised my kids in Compton and they would still be as kick ass as they are.

I've lived all over the country. I'll take our magnet and charter schools and put them against all your shit up north any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Miami and Jacksonville are giant ghettos that drag the entire state down but if you think they reflect the entire state you are sorely mistaken.

Florida is estimated to have the third strongest statewide economy in 2014, no thanks to the shit holes down south. My county has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and a higher median income than most of it as well.

Yeah all the 60 plus crowd is going back to high school. You really should see all the new home construction going on to the south of me. It's amazing.
Right near me at least four new restaurant/places to eat have opened this past year. What's telling are the new banks. New banks mean something about money.
Sure, "season" is huge for filling the coffers. Lee County rakes in a ton of money through hotel bed tax. Keeps my taxes lower. I'm happy.

The five strongest statewide economies in the country are all conservative and mostly in the south; Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. Atlanta may be larger than NYC financially in the country in 50 years if trends continue as they have the previous fifty.

Rack.

People always make a big deal about a community having good or bad schools. This does enter into the equation, but, the bottom line is, a place has "good schools" because it has predominantly good parents. Same goes for shit schools/parents.

I was on vacation back around '09 or '10 in the Orlando area. I saw how condos were selling for pocket change and said to myself, self, you could buy up a dozen or two of these right about now and in 10 years, you'd be all set. Sure wish I listened to me more often.

Actually the bottom line is money. Rich communities have good schools. Poor communities have poor schools.

by money, do you mean the amount of money in the typical parent's bank acct or amount of money spent per kid.

If you mean the latter, you are weapons grade stupid. Big cities outspend the burbs per capita, and it ain't even close. The problem is, you are throwing money at a kid who likely has parents, or should I say a parent that can't or won't help their kid. It really is a sad situation, but it is the truf.

I mean you have rich parents you'll go farther. The single best predictor for success is how rich or poor your parents are.

Really funny thing within 2 miles of me: two gas stations were demolished and 2 banks replaced them, one bank was demolished and replaced by a gas station. Banks 2-Gas Stations 1. Go figure.Home and property values are almost back up to what they were before the housing bubble of a few years back. Two houses up the street from me recently sold for nearly $400K.
Merry Christmas everyone.

yes, that certainly is. there is another one that many would rather not talk about. that is whether or not you have a mom and a dad living together. i think this applies more so to the poor families than the rich. a single poor mother is simply overwhelmed, even if she does give a fukk about her child. it also makes a huge difference financially. a single mom making 15 bucks an hour is going to struggle. if she makes 13/hr and has a husband that also makes 13, they sure won't be rich, but, they will get by if they are not idiots with their money. this is by far the biggest problem blacks face. 50 years of uncle sugar serving as daddy has absolutely destroyed them. maybe even more than we evil rich white folk have.

You really meant to say that :

Florida is a state with corrupt government that is in bed with corrupt business's, and the growth is from these associations, with banks being formed every day with cartel money to launder, and bribes to be paid by developers, and as long as the blue hairs from the northeast continue to spend their retirement checks here , everything will be fine.

Wofman,

I find it...'interesting' that people that have never lived here in Fla. know all about us.

Or, they are morons.

I choose the latter.

BTW, Mikey?....We got over 7 inches of rain here in 2 days. That's like...3 years of precip in San Diego. Right.

When the people that live in the U.S. southwest turn their faucets on one day, and nothing comes out...you are seriously fucked. I suggest building more golf courses in a freaking DESERT! :meds: Water is everything. Just ask Y2K about the drought in the valley.

That shit is all speculation by business insiders. By then numbers and according to the Beige Book which isn't conjecture and just the facts Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas, are by far and away the strongest economies in the country.

Florida's largest commercial industries are agriculture and commercial fishing, not tourism.

Florida exports more than it imports to Latin America. In fact it's so lopsided that 40% of everything exported to Latin America from North America comes from Florida.

1)That report uses "anecdotal information" which is pretty much the same thing as conjecture.
2)That report also does not break down into states only districts.
3)That report says this about dec 2014 in the ATL district.

Since the previous report, District retail contacts indicated that sales were up slightly.

District brokers indicated that growth in home sales has slowed since the previous report.

A majority indicated that construction activity met their plan in October, but that new home sales had fallen short of their plan. Many builders characterized construction activity and new home sales as flat to slightly down from the previous report, while the inventory of unsold homes was flat to slightly up.

The outlook among District commercial real estate contacts remained fairly optimistic.

[T]he outlook among manufacturers is less optimistic than the previous report with less than a quarter of contacts expecting production levels to increase over the next three to six months.

Reports on lending activity were mixed and varied by geographic area. In some areas, residential real estate lending was flat but commercial lending picked up, while in other parts of the District, mortgage lending consisted of a mix of new construction, refinancing, and home improvement loans.

Good results, but far from "far and away the strongest economies in the country." Care to try again?

Liberals benefit from keeping blacks and hispanics dumb and dependent. When people need politicians to feed, dress and house them, they will vote for the liberal politicians who promise to do so.
So tell me, what is more racist, trying to keep races of people stupid and dependent to keep power over them or pointing out that certain races are kept stupid and dependent by people who are trying to keep power over them?
Man, I hate to admit this but....he is absolutely correct. Rack?
