Favorite Tom Jones song

Post by The Assassin »

I'm man enough to admit I think Tom Jones is a great singer, and showman. Dude is a fucking pimp!!!

"Help Yourself"

Love is like candy on a shelf
You want to taste and help yourself
The sweetest things are there for you
Help yourself, take a few
That's what I want you to do.

We're always told repeatedly
The very best in life is free
And if you want to prove it's true
Baby I'm telling you
This is what you should do
Just help yourself to my lips
To my arms just say the word, and they are yours
Just help yourself to the love,
In my heart your smile has opened up the door
The greatest wealth that exists in the world,
Could never buy what I can give
Just help yourself to my lips
To my arms, and then lets really start to live

Allllllllll right. Yeah

My heart has love enough for two
More than enough for me and you
I'm rich with love, a millionaire
I've so much, it's unfair
Why don't you take a share
Just help yourself to my lips
To my arms just say the word, and they are yours
Just help yourself to the love,
In my heart your smile has opened up the door
The greatest wealth that exists in the world
Could never buy what I can give
So help yourself to my lips, to my arms
And then lets really start to live
Just help yourself to my lips
To my arms just say the word, and they are yours
Just help yourself to the love

In my heart your smile............[fade]

Cheesy?Maybe,,but I like his work.

Delilah

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind

My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free

At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more

My, my, my Delilah
Why, why, why Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more

(insert trumpet solo here)

She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more

My, my, my, Delilah
Why, why, why, Delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more
Forgive me Delilah I just couldn't take any more

It's not unusual to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone
but when I see you hanging about with anyone
It's not unusual to see me cry,
oh, I wanna die

It's not unusual to go out at anytime
but when I see you out and about it's such a crime
If you should ever want to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual, it happens evey day,
no matter what you say,
You find it happens all the time
Love will never do, what you want it to
Why can't this crazy love be mine?

It's not unusual to be mad with anyone
It's not unusual to be sad with anyone
But if I ever find that you've changed at anytime
It's not unusual to find out that I'm in love with you
whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh...

Tom's cover of Prince's "Kiss" w/ the Art Of Noise is a good one as well, IMO. 8)

one of my friends in high school had a lake house on lake texoma. at the lake house, where we'd a decent amount of time chillin, they had a 4 side Tom Jones live in Vegas LP. one of the sides was about 20 minutes of a Beatles medley. it was gawdawful,

that get's my vote.

Yeah he shouldn't be covering songs that are out of his range. Like that Prince song he covered. Just didnt fit his style.

Tom Jones' "Purple Rain" is horrific.

His best song is easily "Thunderball," "Delilah" a close second.
