That eagle was born when I was a freshman.

Maybe. But this one is pretty good, too:

Actually Spray.

The guys that ride Renegade are at least part(1/16th) :, No really, mostly Seminole Indians. I've talked to a couple of the guys that played Osceola, and trust me, they are 100% straight. Think...Rodeo riders. That's what those guys are. I haven't ridden a horse since I was 15, and it scared the crap out of me. Those are big freaking animals that could stomp ya to death and not even care. Riding a 1500 lb beast into a stadium with 85k fans screaming, would make me want walk away very fast( can't run, the disabled thing ya know), to get out of it's path! Let alone make it 'rear up' for the cameras. An Eagle has the brain the size of a marble......here is food in my hand...fly to get it like 4000 times before on my 1/2 inch leather glove.

Bah!

Osceola and Renegade are the best. ESPN even had a poll a few years ago and FSU won.

The Eagle thing is pretty damn cool though.

Fuck Assehola and fuck RenegAIDS.

How much does FSU have to pay the Seminole Tribe so they don't sue for racism?

Horses have bigger brains but are still stupid as dirt.

There was a WSJ story on the Seminoles and their relationship with FSU a few years ago when the NCAA was all worked up about Indian mascots. Turns out the Seminole tribe owns the Hard Rock brand associated casinos. The Vegas casino alone brings in tens of thousands of dollars annually for each member of the tribe.

The article also pointed out that the tribe is responsible for the mascot and the horse and the tribe threatened to sue the NCAA itself if it attempted to force change upon FSU.

becuz his balls are cut off and he's on drugs.

did the seminole indians ride horses? cuz i don't think they did. that's kind of a plains thing.

i don't know if it's the best and it's being marketed way too much around here, but watching a buffalo run is pretty good. as MIke suggests.

Not a big fan of live animal mascots. The Auburn eagle is pretty cool, and I'm sure Uga has a great life. But when it gets to a point where you're taking large beasts out of their natural habitats and drugging them, castrating them, and caging them, just so you can parade them around 100,000 screaming maniacs as if these animals even know what the fuck is going on, then maaaayyyyyybe it's time to scale back a bit and invest in a costumed mascot.

You guys are really upset that a cow that is a mascot has its balls removed? This is how most male cows are treated anyway. Hell, PETA doesn't even get upset about the spay and neuter of pets, which is exactly what Bevo is.

Oh, and show me one verified report that Bevo is drugged. Walk into any FFA barn in the country and you will see plenty of cows that aren't drugged and better behaved than your kids.

I'm "upset" about it to the extent I took 30 seconds to post about it on a message board. I don't plan on firing off any emails to PETA any time soon.

I'm just not a fan of live animal mascots. You are. That's cool.

I'm opposed to keeping animals that aren't for eating purposes in captivity. Don't do zoos, and I currently without pets, and the only ones I'll keep are ones that are free to leave whenever they want (which pretty much limits me to cats).

To each their own.

I get that, but I was just responding to your stated "issues" with them. You had issues with caging, drugging and castration which is pretty much the life of all male cows except the drugging which is rumor in Bevo's case.

Dins, I see your point and pretty much agree with an addition. We have two dogs, but they are both rescues. I think we as a society have a responsibility to animals that we have domesticated and then are irresponsible with. Far to many are killed due to idiots, so every decade or so we adopt a few.

If it helps, I agree with Dinsdale's take on captivity. I would rather see Bevo on my dinner plate than paraded around on a football field, but I'm not passionate enough about it go to on a Moving Sale style 10 page debate.

The University of Michigan doesnt do mascots, never have. Always felt we were above that sort of thing. The big block M is our mascot I guess. Such a legendary iconic logo.
