Tiki Juice bar in Disneyland is one of the best places to eat in the entire United States? Yeah, this is a legitimate list.

Yelp is usually reasonably accurate. At least to the extent that if a place gets mostly 4 and 5 stars, it won't usually suck.

I agree with that statement Scott, but the list you provided only listed to Phoenix establishments, one being a hot dog cart. Huh? Those dogs are okay, but they don't rate with the best local choices, like Jimmy's, Joey's of Chicago or Teds. Plus, Phoenix has a fantastic number of top tier restaurants, including Pizzarea Bianco, Quiessence, Beckett's Table, l'orangerie and dozens of others. Postino Arcadia is great, but not the best.

2 places listed for Portland -- a food cart (Portland is the food cart capital, but I prefer restaurants that don't need to check the air pressure on their foundation), and a takeout window.

Lots of people fire off great reviews if they get high quality food for a cheap price, which is why I'm surprised the 2 mentioned got in ahead of the burrito joint on the corner by me, since it pretty much owns on Yelp.

3. Oklahoma Joe’s Barbecue, Kansas City, KS
I have a huge problem with the highest rated BBQ in KC being located in Kansas.

No sir, I won't go there. Not when I have the KCMO BBQ to enjoy.

Smokehouse
Gates
Arthur Bryant's

To name but a few.

But I have heard good things about Joe's, maybe they deliver. And I'll fess up that Rosedale BBQ is quite good, but it's like less than a mile from the border, so it gets a pass.

Tough to beat Gates, but Jack Stack does and its in Missouri. Bryant's is as over rated in this town as Stroud's. Rosedale? WTF Wags? That's worse than the Zarda shit at Price Chopper. Ok Joe's is less than 2 miles from there. Get your ass over there to the gas station and have a rib and sausage dinner.

Been to # 8, Franklin Barbecue. While it is pretty badass, it is not worth the 3 hour wait which usually is even the case during the week. The other Austin ones I have never been to. I guess it is a shame since one of the restaurants is not even 2 miles from my front door and I pass it everyday driving to work.

Or at least comped the meal. Those lists don't mean shit (never heard of any of the Seattle places).

For the slow people -- it was based on average rating (and likely vs cost) of Yelp users, who number in the buhzillions.

Why is that hard to understand?

Ahh, Pedo in Seattle... he eats outside the "box" if you will.

For Jay, have you ever tried Grumpy John's BBQ in Tempe? 1811 N Scottsdale Rd, Tempe, AZ 85281 (480-946-8892). It's before you hit McKellips Rd. on the northeast corner. Very good BBQ that my grandpa always took me to. You should check it out someday. Very very good food and a nice atmosphere.

Thought about that place last year when we made a road trip to Napa last year. Supposedly a life-changing experience, but a little expensive.

Plenty of great places to eat in Napa/St. Helena

This place is a little more reasonable, and they have the best burgers in town.

Bistro Don Giovanni was about 200 yards from our B&B and was pretty deece. Plus, being able to walk back after a couple of bottles of wine was not a bad idea.

I believe we are staying at the Hospitality Suites. A better choice than Yelp is Trip Advisor. Here are some of the top Scottsdale restaurants (with their TA rating #), all within 5 miles of our hotel:

Citizen Public House #4
The Mission #6
Karsen's Grill #9
Mastro's City Hall #7
Oregano's Pizza Bistro #11
Olive & Ivy #13
Wildfish Seafood Grille #16
Tommy V's Urban Kitchen and Bar #20
Veneto Trattoria #22

Wife is Italian, that is always a consideration.

I will check out the Roaring Fork. One of the in-laws is bringing two kids, so MS's recommendation insures availability of booster seats.

With the shrimp appetizer out of the way, with your wife being Italian, Oregano's is a very popular choice and has won numerous awards. Olive & Ivy and Veneto Trattoria are good too. For a little more eclectic fare, try Cowboy Ciao for a different take on surf and turf. The Mission is actually three different venues, including Zinc and The House. Citizen Public House is traditional American, like steak, chicken, duck and meatloaf. For seafood, try Elements or Wildfish. Oh yeah, one more on the Italian front would be Tommy V's Urban Kitchen, which also has live music and might well be one of your best choices.

The #101 ranking concerned me. Too many restaurants, not enough time. Going out on a Tuesday, back on Saturday, with one full day spent at the Blondiebabe memorial.

I'm not going to completely disagree with the Cowboy Ciao assessment, I was just mixing in something different. If you make it into North Scottsdale, you might try Lon's at the Hermosa, a resort in Paradise Valley. It's pricey, but it's also an award winner, for a reason. If your family is into the raw fish thing, try ShinBay or Hiro Sushi. Hiro is a chef who I have known for over twenty five years and he is a premiere chef.
