Memory lane.......re-sets

Post by Nolesy »

Seeing the pic of the N C babes and the top hats made me giggle thinking of classic moments on the board over the years.
Since it is the off season maybe it would be a good time to revisit some epic moments over the boards ( board being defined as the core group of guys that have hung together since the Rome board days) life.

Some of my favorites include:
Brads post where he claims he is going to eat off of someones plate at a buffet

crackies state of the unions- though I rarely understood what dude said it seemed funny

Lefty's post about drunk drivers- though not funny it was top drawer

and who could ever forget the phone book
Fuck the ACLU. It will always be Merry Christmas to me.

Some of mine...

pretty much all of Brads posts were pretty funny...

the epoch 88 vs. Shaz battles...

88 singing the scUM fight song...

The Shaz stat-o-matic posts...

and pretty much anything that posters like 88, Shaz, M Club, BTH, Skull, LK (even though he hates OSU), Meds, Lax, etc...are all top drawer (as you coined it)...

let's get the smack on gentlemen and gal...

damn I left Trixie off, oh well...

Gotta love the jtindall epic saga.

Shaz meltdowns were as common as his misspellings.

Of course, Shaz could spin any stat to show the Huskers as the best team ever and the XII as the best conference ever.

jon=bitch posting that Ryan Hansen is the sexiest college athlete as :bode: for Iowa was classic.

So was jon=bitch claiming his girlfriend running off with a McDonald's cashier.

You also gotta love trix's yearly melt/retirement...always to return come when football season nears.

I'll think of more.

Damn, how could I forget the search for Liz after he hungused himself.

......and, was it 88's kid who was shown in a pic running smack about winning a week in the pickem contest.

speaking of the pickem contest... remember when it was posted that i won only to be robbed by a recount only hours later? That one still hurts :(

88 posting his take on the upcoming Notre Dame football season, being led to a National Championship (despite being 4-7) by 3rd string QB Jared Clark was hilarious.

CR25 not understanding why he was considered a band waggon fan

Babs trying to call out OSU fan for riots on their campus

Skull, the phone book story, and the origins of "buttfuck you in the mouth"

Will probably come up with some more.

Can't forget all those threads filled unanimously with Babs' trolls racking each other. And KCDave's epic meltdown after he guaranteed that Miami would win the '03 Fiesta Bowl.

Wow. You guys are making me want to start drinking heavily during football season again, just to get some new material... Thanks.

As for me:

- The Erin McQuinn saga. (I'd still hit it.)
- Jewish Gangsters
- The Re-Education of Crown Royal 25.
- All of the board moves, and the fact that most of us managed to stick together through them.
- All of you that I've had the privledge of meeting in person. It's been a blast with each and every one of you... except with Waz and LK when the bartender at O'Connell's tried to kill us, but the thong made up for it.

My all-time favorite was the fictional phone call to "National Champions R Us T-Shirt Company" after K State lost to A&M in the Big 12 Title Game. I can't remember who posted that but I still laugh when thinking of it.

88's 2004 pre-OSU-Michigan post was a work of art. To sum it up...88 doesn't like Michigan.

Our first OU-Texas "Smackoff" was very funny, especially because it preceded the 63-14 ass-kicking. The poster named "Texas" had a great parody of the Oklahoma State Song. Wonder where he is.

Others:

- Anything from 88, AK in Bugaha, Frozen/BtH, PSU, and Shaz. As far as I'm concerned, this is the Mount Rushmore of Smackchat. Shaz being a grammatically-challenged Teddy Roosevelt.

- TREX's verbal diarrhea on the 2003 Sugar Bowl, though meant to be serious, was so horribly off-base that it morphed into comedy.

- Looking back, it's funny how I started out sparring with certain posters who I now respect and with whom I usually agree. Frisco and Lax come to mind.

- How can we have a memory thread without mention of Captain Myopic, Austin_Bill. Thanks for making Texas even easier to hate, Bill. Actually, I can't imagine the place without you.

Getting piled on by the Ohio State guys for saying they were overrated was pretty good stuff.

Getting piled on by everyone when I said the BCS was total bullshit was decent as well.

Good times.

Hearing that warms my lil' heart, 88, 'cause I'd like to believe that I was responsible for at least one of those "moments." I wish he still played for Tejas. Maybe he's "developed" or "come into his own," or "gotten his swagger back" by now, eh?

My hatred of Tejas just isn't the same without his face on the Whipping Boy posters...

Not really from the college football aspect of the board, but I miss the baseball resets from BraveFan concerning Andruw Jones and Jr.

"At age 19, which player would you rather have?

Player A .325 average, 24 HR, 100 RBIs, 30 stolen bases, 1 gold glove
Player B .312 average, 35 HR, 110 RBIs, 10 stolen bases, 0 gold gloves"
8-1 feels so much better than 2-10-1

I miss vintage crackhead.

AK's season preview was some of the funniest stuff on the Board -- EVER.

Oh Christ there are so many to try and remember. My first encounter was with War Stoops....Man I thought I knew football.....being a jr. poster on the old rome board made me re-think my position. Epic battles with Jimmy Meds regarding SC....then we played some golf and he got the golden plunger. Any shaz post is worth reading due to the changing of the english language. These boards have been a relief for me over the years. I've spoken to many of you, met a few of you and no matter what when I get into work this is the first place I go. It's like we're a fraternity. We've been through the highs and lows of life. Family members dying, kids being born, world trajedy. I remember on 9-11 this place was flooded with each of us asking if the other was alright. We hate each other but we respect and care for each other. Yes even the SC fans......greg, jimmy. Hell greg and I went to the same GD high school. Granted he's about 20 years older than I am....
Through the good times, and the bad, the constant moves etc.....it's good to see the same core bunch stick together. Now, with the NC game out here this year anyone who comes out needs to give me a call so we can hook up for some drinking and golf.

Can we expect the "T Rex Grill" to come out soon... It's gonna be an unusual grill as it very rarely makes food taste as good as it looks, it complains about losing customers to the USDA standards, and it only turns on at home.

bradhuskers always had me rolling. The crackhead was money up until he started getting out of character.

The smack war between crack and Nebraska Pimpin' 4 Life was one of the funniest things I've ever read on the internet.

Also, I know most of the board got their fill of my battle with Shrubber, but I thought it was priceless that he begged Miss Conduct to be made a mod and when she did he promptly went into the archives and deleted all his meltdowns.

One of my favorite threads ever was this one:

laughed my fool ass off there.

This one was funny too:

http://www.thetrolls.com/phpbb/viewtopi ... sc&start=0

Not to bring it up for the 1000th time, but the Cicada thread was a fun one.

Also, the Babs/88 threads about rioting students have never failed us.

The days where Shaz used to flame with the Big 10 fans were pretty epic, as were the OUfan/Shaz wars.

The CR25 bandwagon topic has always been a good subject.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed watching the posts from all of you who are fans of great rivalry games; OU-Texas, Michigan-Ohio State, UF-FSU, etc. I look forward to the week of when those games are played.

Check me if I am wrong here but did,nt Zook have a job before he got to Hog town and did he not secure employement immediately after the season ended. This " worse coach in history" seems quite employable. Is he not the same coach who was fired and at the same time retained by UF till the season ended?

As for "beating the tar out of you" The way I saw it, from the seven yard line at Doak, not in front of some 13 inch black and white with a clothes hanger sticking out of it- FSU was driving for the tying score when the game ended.

You are truee about one thing, If it were'nt for Jeff Bowden The gaytors would have lost once again in Tally running to o wins in Doak in how many, oh say, 18 years?
