Personally, I found this much more telling:

Asked what caused the confusion over the attack, the president responded: "Well, we weren't confused about the fact that four Americans had been killed, I wasn't confused about the fact that we needed to ramp up diplomatic security around the world right after it happened, I wasn't confused about the fact that we had to investigate exactly what happened so it gets fixed and I wasn't confused about the fact that we were going to hunt down whoever did it and bring them to justice."

The more he runs from it, the worse he makes it for himself. All he has to do to make this go away is say, "I don't know where the 'Youtube riot' explanation came from and I wish it would have been vetted before people had done interviews, but it wasn't." Instead he's defiant, acting like it's our fault that he and his Administration got caught bullshitting. That act didn't work for Bush/Cheney and it's not going to work for Barry either.

Setting aside the political horse-shit being thrown about regarding Obama's use of the word "optimal" as quoted above, how does Obama's statement make any sense whatsoever in response to the question asked by Mr. Leibowitz? Mr. Leibowitz asked whether the administration needs to improve its internal communications going forward. What does Obama's reference to four dead Americans have to do with that? If it makes it easier, go ahead and assume that Obama's response was "If four Americans get killed, it's tragic." What does such a response have to do with the failures of his administration's internal communication? Obama simply won't address that question in any way, as far as I can tell.

He can't address any failures in internal communication because there were no failures in internal communication. Their cover story failed and they were caught in a lie. That's it. They knew exactly what happened in Benghazi from the beginning. They knew there was no protest outside the consulate of any kind. There was only an attack.

The only question remaining is who ordered the cover up.

There was no protest outside the consulate that night. That is an indisputable fact which was known by the administration that very night yet they spent the next couple weeks pushing a lie about a protest that never happened.

It is now also becoming clear that the protest in Cairo had fuck all to with a video clip as well.

The protest outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was announced Aug. 30 by Jamaa Islamiya, a State Department-designated terrorist group, to protest the ongoing imprisonment of its spiritual leader, Sheikh Omar abdel Rahman. He is serving a life sentence in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.
